Zidane was insulted by Materazzi (I heard from the radio that the Italian football player insulted Z's mother). What would you do if some jerk said that to you???!!!

Zidane knew very well that he was being filmed by a dozen of cameras and if he did that, the insult must be really mean and nasty.

If I were Zidane, I would FINISH the match, and then punched the sh** out of Meterazzi.

And why NOBODY talks about Meterazzi as if he was innocent????

I've noticed how some of the Italian morons here have come rushing to defend that worthless piece of crap, Materazzi, simply because of his race. The fact of the matter is, this isn't about siding with your race, but rather standing together to speak out against racism, the real issue involved with this situation. What Materazzi did was absolutely disgusting. He basically called Zidane the Italian equivalent of a "*****r," and if that wasn't enough, Materazzi went on to say that he (Zidane) was the "son of a terrorist whore" making reference to his Algerian Muslim background. All of this has been kept quiet for the most part at this time with the exception of a few web sites on the net such as the one for which I've provided the link below. But I hope the truth in its entirety will be revealed to everyone soon.

I was an athlete myself at the high school and college level and I know all about trash-talking to get into the heads of your opponents, but Materazzi clearly crossed over that line in a major way by saying what he did to Zidane. For those of you who talk about restraint, I think Zidane DID show a great deal of restraint by not beating that punk Materazzi half to death right there on the spot. Here in the United States, we've had an ugly history regarding racism in the past, but you'll absolutely never hear an athelete in any one of our major sports making such comments to another player these days. Materazzi is pure scum. He is the perfect example of what is plaguing international soccer today: racism. Idiots like him do not belong on the field. FIFA ought to ban him after they've conducted their investigations in its entirety.

As for Zidane, he only reacted as anyone would do when they, their family, and their race was SERIOUSLY insulted by an as*hole like Materazzi. Actually, when you think about it, Zidane's response was very measured. It's not like he punched out Materazzi or bashed his head in with a baseball bat, which is what I'd be tempted to do if I was the target fo such horrific racial slurs. A part of me is actually glad that Zidane did lash out a little instead of just standing there and taking it all in. Now racism in soccer and dumbfu*k sh!theads like Materazzi will be exposed for the evil they are, and the problem can be given the appropriate attention that it deserves.

On Sunday, July 25th 2006, Zinedine Zidane ruined his career. As one of the most respected and talented players in the world, Zidane's despicable actions can not be justified in any way. As a professional, in a World Cup final match, there is no excuse for deliberately head-butting an opposing player (Materazzi). What Matterazzi said to Zidane is not relevant. What is relevant, however, is that Zidane may have cost France the game. Having a player of Zidane's caliber in the game, is crucial to the moral of the team. Unfortunately for Zidane, his extremely impressive career wont outlast the image of him that was burned in the minds of billions on Sunday. The image of a brutal loser.

If I were Zidane I would do what the Argentinian player did - wait till the game is over, do my best to kick the Italians' butt and win the cup and then punch Materazzi in the face :)

But I 'm sooooooooooooooooooooo glad Italy won :D

Well first thing first - i thing zidane should invest in an anti-perspirant becuase damn that guy sweats within the first 5 mins of a soccer match and secondly France is lucky to have got to the finals and thirdly i rate that Zindane needs to stop being so damn sensative.

PS - Materazzi is italian - dont mess with the italians!

Basically, Mr. M got what he wanted - Zidane off the field. It would have definately been better for Zidane to beat the SH## out of M on the field rather than off it. France and Zizou deserved to win.

He should have waited. Besides what did Materazzi say that Zidane hadn't heard in his 18 year career? That must have been some nasty s.hit, or Zidane just overreacted.

Zidane is representing a country and so he should have shown some restraint. And in international game's the opponent's always say thing's to mess up the other player's mind.

Well that's because he is innocent are you as moronic as Zidane? He didn't do anything to him but maybe said something nasty. I don't care if he told him to go F his mother , he didn't deserve that. Think first type later not he other way around next time

yeah ur rite 10000000000%......
that bloody a$$hole matterazi.....

zizou is an international football player....
he isnt new to cameras.....
they get used to it......
hence they care very little of thier actions......
and in such a provoking situation.......
i'd say why just a HEADBUTT????
WHY NOT MORE???!!!!!!
the italian a$$ abused him or might be france or might be his mother??????
we'll come to know that soon.....

but zidane will forever be remembered for his magic......
but then just as he made his life IMMORTAL in our lives...
he also made his farewell IMMORTAL in our lives....

its hard to say but no one will ever forget this incident....
whenever someone goes on to talk about zizou in the future....
they'll be in with praises first.....
and then they'll talk about his devastating headbutt.....
wrong place wrong time zizou.....

i would like to really know what mattarazi really said to zizou....
after FIFA investigates into the matter.....
and then decide what i would have done.....
