I was watching VH1 and they were talking about the top 40 videos of 2007. Matchbox 20's "How Far We've Come" was on the top list, and he was talking about how it will end for Mormons, Catholics, and Atheists and we'll only find out who is right after we're dead. And he said "I put my money on the Mormons"

So is he Mormon, or just saying that?

For myself, I was baptised as a Catholic many years ago, due to the fact that one of my parents was a Catholic, more down to family tradition than an allegiance to the faith. I never followed through, but I respect the fact that there are dedicated sincere people who attach a lot of importance to their religion. I am curious to know people's views as to his sincerity, and how they view him as a member of their congregation. Do you see it as a personal choice, and him as a worthy participant, or something different to this?

I recently posted a question describing the nastiness I have been seeing from Athiests. I received some rude answers, but I also received many well thought out and mature responses. There was also a general trend of answers saying that they were tired of being told they would burn in Hell, that they were doomed, and the "believe or else" clause.

If you are a Christian and threatening people, bad form. Jesus taught with gentle persuasion, using reason, parables, and a very fundamental knowledge of human nature. He gave people the choice to believe. Remember, whether you believe in Hell or not, it isn't an effective persuasion method to someone who doesn't even believe in God OR the Devil. Duh. So, maybe we can cut out the whole Brimstone and Fire conversion method? As grandmas always say, you can draw more flies with honey. Talk about why you believe, not why someone else should. Don't say athiest = stupid. Many are very intelligent.

Mutual respect everyone. Try it!

Do we all live forever, in whatever form?

Or could it be that some actually do die?

If you no longer have a desire or love for material things, then why do you have those mansions and streets made out of
24-karat gold there? Aren't we just gonna be turned into zombie-like beings who are programmed into just wanting to worship God and doing nothing else and be made to need Him like a puppy needs to suck on its mother's nipple for milk?

I'd rather stay the way I am, thank you very much!

According to St. Paul, Christians should rejoice in suffering because it produces endurance, hope and character (Romans 5:3-5).

Still other Christians see innocent people suffering as evidence of the hard to make out will of a God who "works in mysterious ways" toward an ultimate but unknowable good.

Some Roman Catholics offer no explanation but seek to trust in God. In the past, Roman Catholic Christians were taught that they should "offer up" pain, with the idea that through faith, suffering that seems meaningless can be redeemed and transformed.

Let's say you died and went to a place of torment for lack of belief on your part, would you blame others for not warning you? Or, would you take responsibility for your own actions?

.... you found out that one of your "enemies" on here (by that I mean the people whose attitudes, answers or lack of answers or plain dimness gets you going GRRRRRR!!!) is your next-door neighbour or workmate (or spouse)?

Let's say it's somebody whom you talk to frequently in real life but you have never discussed religion with them. And as you consider the way you treat each other here on Y!A, you realise that if you treated each other like that in real life, you wouldn't have had the relationship you have now.

Would you;
a) Tell them who you are here on Y!A R&S to see their reaction?

b) Continue your banter on here with more vigour, now that you know who you're REALLY "bashing"?

c) Ignore them on here since it now shames you to know who you're "bashing"?

d) Send them an endless stream of scary emails telling them that you know where they live?

I'm just really curious :-))

1- Difficult OT Book of Job, so depressing to me that I would just stop and put it aside. I always came back to it. I'm glad I did. It is now one the more inspirational books to me.
2- Enjoyable NT Book of John but there are so many other favs too. Hard time answering my own Q.
Thanks for sincere Bible readers responses. We shall ignore the rest.
I'll not thumbs down on my own Q.

Genesis 49:10 (King James Version)
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Who is Shiloh?

Serious answers please.

This might seem like a very primitive question to you all, but I have only recently "gotten into" religion, and have a lot of unanswered questions... which I can live with, but my main issue is... if Jesus was a practicing Jew, then WHY does christianity even exist? Surely then christians would want to convert to the religion of Jesus??
