Lots of people -- me included -- don't mind saying they have a spiritual aspect to their daily lives, but are leery about saying that they're "religious."

Any ideas why this is so?

You live in a small town (14,000). There is one hospital and two surgeons employed there. You have an operation are released. Five days later you become very ill (extreme pain). You are re-admitted and learn that there was a negligent error on the part of the surgeon that performed the operation. This is a life threatening situation. You require two subsequent surgeries (done by another surgeon in another hospital) to correct the mistake made.
You have a full recovery and forgive the sloppy mistake of the first surgeon even though he refuses to admit his negligence.

My question is, is it considered gossip and slander to warn others that need surgery in this hospital about this particular surgeon?
Thanks for your thoughtful answers.

Joshua 10:12-13
Then spoke Joshua to the lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, "Sun stand thou still upon Gibeon and thou, Moon in the valley of Ajalon."
And the sun stood still and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Joshua? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down the whole day.

We live in a heliocentric universe. The Sun does not move. If Joshua was realy inspired by the forces that created the universe he should have said, "Earth be thou still". This proves to me the god religion was created by ancient men during the time when people were beheaded for suggesting the Earth revolved around the Sun. Does it not suggest the same for you?

Your identity is a Hamburger right? Pretty silly, though i've been guilty of this fallacy too, isn't? Identity trumps beliefs any day of the week, anyone else???

This link is from the Catholic Church describing how they did this:

You obviously can't have any fun in Hell and if you can't do whatever you want in Heaven, then where CAN YOU do whatever you want after you die?

I'm trying to think of one thing we could all agree on,
like a puzzle where all pieces fit to make a picture,
yet not all pieces fit together with each other, but
when assembled together all pieces make one,
and such unified one is as grace us as God.

I am dating a Christian man who has been separated from his wife for 10 years. His wife lives in Europe, and he hasn't seen her for years. After we started dating, he made the decision to finally get a divorce. They were married for only 5 years and have no kids together.
I am a Christian, and my parents are very religious. My dad told me that I am an adulteress because I am dating a married man. It doesn't matter to him that my boyfriend is almost divorced to a woman who lives in a foreign country and he hasn't seen in almost a decade. I'm not even having sex with him because I won't do that until I am married.
Is my dad over reacting or is he right? Am I really committing adultery?

If I told you that approximately 2000 years ago, people were raised from the dead, you would probably say it was true.
If I told you sometime in the future people would be raised from the dead, you would most likely say it was true.
So why if I told you that I saw people raised from the dead last night the first thing you would ask would probably be the name of the mental hospital I escaped from?

Christians quote this verse and say that the only way to salvation is Jesus. The verse - John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"

Then what about the people that were born and died before Jesus's time, do they never get a chance for
salvation ?

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
-Mark 16:16-18.

...i wonder if there is any written facts or writings about how the apostles died and why is it not written or included in any of the teaching or writings of their own, i mean one of the postle or the last apostle standing on that time before he died might have written how his fellow apostle suffered or persecuted or died.

How about instead of worshiping cars, money, things, houses, stuff, and god, we worship each other ??

God is pictured in most religions as a wise all knowing, benevolent, loving, humble, deity, BUT he wants us to bow at his feet ? and grovel before him?

I do not think so

Worship each other

The world needs The Church of Each Other above all else.

Atheist and Agnostics will also please reply only if you will specifically and directly address the actual question asked.

In other words, this question is already conditionally predicated on the Existence of the One True God of Heaven -- and that Jesus Christ was the Son of God before His Incarnation, that He laid down His Divine Power (but not His Divine Authority) to become a Man, and that He took up His Divine Power again when He Ascended to Heaven 40 days after His Crucifixion and Resurrection.

Thus, when everyone considers their answers, please keep in mind these verses of Scripture -- and keep in mind that I'd like to hear answers in your own words, rather than more Scripture (unless I've missed a very telling one):

Deuteronomy 18:13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

I know plenty of people that put up the tree, buy gifts, decorate the house, and everything else without ever thinking about christianity or why they're celebrating Christmas. People, whether religious or not, celebrate Christmas anyway. I know a lot of atheists and agnostics that celebrate Christmas. Can Christmas be considered more of a cultural holiday than religious one in America?
