Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
-Mark 16:16-18.

November 5, 2006, Linda Long was at the East London Holiness Church in Kentucky, handling snakes and showing her faith, when a rattler bit her. She died a few hours later. There's a lesson in there somewhere...

When I was in a boarding school in Missouri, like... 4 months ago, there was this lady who came to our church.
She addressed the crowd what God had told her to pray for, health wise, and name all the things.
Then, she asked for all the people who had any of the things (headache, toothache, right pinkie toe hurting, etc...) to raise their hands, and come up to the front.
Some of the people at my school came up, and once they were all lined up horizontally in front of her she put her hand on their foreheads, one by one, and some of them fainted, and some just almost fell, and some weren't effected at all, but everyone at my school said that they didn't hurt anymore.

Some did, some didn't. Some can, some can't. Salvation doesn't hinge on things written after the first sentence.

At one time my family did know some "snake handling" Christians - I tend to believe these were specific powers granted by Jesus Christ Himself.

yes. but only if you really believe that God can do this through you.alot of Christians today, myself included, don't have to faith to be able to do such things. I have cast out demons before though. that's not hard.
