"Thou shalt have no other gods before Me"

My pastor says "Whatever we cherish that tends to lessen our love for God or to interfere with service to due Him, of that do we make a god." Doe Jesus count?

I will not state this specific urge because all urges are the same, and I just want a answer in general. It just feels like that I needed to do something that it is not me, but I do it. I stopped this urge a month ago, yet I still feel like I really need to do it. But I don't want to do it, and I want to put an end to it. Should I ask God to help me because I broke my word to the Lord Almighty. I am just afraid that I might broke my word to him again, so what should I do?

Should I pray for his help?

Hint: If you can read this, then you know my urge. But you do not need to know this particular urge I have. Iay edusay otay earway ethay omenway's clothes.

What should we (patiently) think of a person who said,

" I know you are wrong because I am a SCENCE teacher."

I'm trying to figure out how some people's minds work. I just read two questions.

The first one stated that Protestants are jealous of Catholics, because Catholics have a virgin Mary. The second one stated that atheists secretly want to be Christians, because secretly they all have God in their hearts anyway.

I always assumed that if a persons wants to follow a certain religion, he can just do that. No need for jealousy or denying yourself to believe in what you want to believe in.

But I'm obviously missing something. Do certain religions have very high membership fees which make it almost impossible to join? Is that why people are jealous of other religions or deny themselves the beliefs they 'secretly' have?

Please give me serious answers. You have plenty of other places to insult muslims. Don't get into that here, i need honest and to the point answers.

There are certain dress codes assigned for women at job sites. But for muslim women who cannot wear skirts or wish to wear dresses which donot show the shape of the body even, how are they suppose to apply for certain jobs even though they have very good academic backgrounds.

This is an actual attitude among some Christians. The quote above is a paraphrase from St. Thomas Aquinas.

My question was: Why is it so great for an immoral omnipotent God's son to die one phisical life?
Many answerd with preaches and many others with confusing and empty analogies and metaphores disigned to sound compelling, but missing the point.
Doesn't matter actually what we got in exchange through Jesus' sacrifice, cause His sacrifice wasn't such thing. He, just like His father, was and always will be omnipotent and immortal. Dying to him was the infintesimal part of a weak tickle in His divine ribs. Though even He had taken all the sins of the whole world past, present and future upon himself, --like someone suggested, tho'it sounded pretty ridiculous to me-- that would mean the smallest drop of water, rippling in an infinite pond. And if He took all the sins of the whole world past, present and future upon himself, then there's nothing we must be afraid of. We're all saved. Tho'even we don't accept Jesus in our hearts, cause that's just another sin from which we've been saved.

1. Do they want to force everyone to adopt the same religion?
2. Does the Quran really teach them that violence is the answer to their problems?
3. If not this, then what? What is it?
4. If you want to see what a religion is about, look at what their people are doing. Not what they are saying but what they are doing.

How did you come to believe in what you did?
Was it something you were raised to believe, or did you learn about various religions and find one you liked?
And what do you like/dislike about your chosen religion?

Please consider before answering:
Answers that promote beliefs as fact, i.e. "I believe in my religion because Jesus is real and loves me", or "because my religion is right", or "God doesn't exist and people are stupid for thinking he does" will be reported as a non-answer. That is not what I'm asking. If that's all you have to contribute, please go answer another question. Thanks.

My mom is always bugging me to go to church with her. When I say no she gets all mad telling me I'm alive and healthy for a reason. I tell her I know and it doesn't have to do with church. I can praise God and believe in him without having to go to a designated spot to do so! I want to know what church has to do with me believeing in God? Why do I have to sit there and listen to some person talk about, I don't even know what but it's boring. Is it wrong that I don't want to go to church?

My son is 4 years old and I have not gotten him baptized. I'm NOT a religious person and I don't believe I should force religion onto a 4 year old child who can or cannot tell me if he wants to be involved with God. However, my son's father is Catholic and demands he be baptized Catholic so he can be raised Catholic as well. I do not believe the Catholic religion to be anything else except hypocrisy. My mother is Catholic as well but is not practicing yet she still wants him baptized regardless of what religion it is so long as his soul has somewhere to go if something were to happen.

I don't know what to do. I am being bombarded by both sides and I don't have an argument to back me up on why I shouldn't. I want my son to grow up and decide things like this for himself. What should I do?

If God could fail, what's the point in worshiping him?

If God cannot fail, how can you justify believing anyone has free will?

I have been told, statues of Mary are mere figures or symbols by which the Deity is worshiped. But the 2nd commandment (of Big 10) forbids the worship of the true God by images or similitudes. If its ok, then what is idolatry?
