If there is free will, then how would it be possible for God to be in control?

If God could fail, what's the point in worshiping him?

If God cannot fail, how can you justify believing anyone has free will?

Try to think about it in the context of the Great Controversy. Satan claims his model of government offers more freedom, and doesn't rely on stupid laws of love. So God allowed him to test his theory. He isn't going to lose, otherwise he wouldn't have allowed Satan access to other beings in the first place. But as an all knowing God, He allowed sin to unfold to show all the intelligent beings in the universe that His government is just and right.

I am a little confused as to your definition of "free will". Because free will does not mean the ability to freely usurp God's place. It means the ability to tell God that you don't love Him and that you don't want to serve Him. It doesn't make God "lose" or "fail" by doing it, it means that YOU lose.

lemme quote a comic (watchman by Alan Moore)

Dr Manatthan: " To me, the most intelligent man is not different from the most intelligent ant ".

how i read the above sentence: IF there s a God ( in the way the 3 monotheist faiths see him) he would probably not care that much.
that is why prey/meditation is important in religions: it open a dedicated channel to god. that s the only way to let you be heard.
if there is not a god as the above religion see him. the question is solved :-)

What about things being preordained? Seems like the two get switched around just to suit whom ever is applying it. Like it or not you can't have it both ways. If it is all preordained then no one should be imprisoned, it's god's will that it be. If it is free will then you can't say it was some persons time to die. These things aren't interchangeable.

God gives us free will because he is not a puppet master but guides us by his conscience talking to ours.he is like parents who give good advice but dont make us do anything

Nice question
but look at it this way
God creates a universe so he doesn't get too bore
then he places a lifeform with
free will that he doesn't control
We love should love him because of
who he is
Not for any fear of going to hell

We can make whatever choices we want. No one is powerful enough to stop God from completing his purpose. Will you learn to play the guitar, or the violin? Will you eat carrots with peas at dinner? Will you wear the red sweater or the blue one? Will you serve God or Satan? Free will. Will it change or stop God's purpose? Of course not.

If God were in control, most of the atheists at this site would be fried where they sat.

Obviously he's very tolerant and allows for our freedom to be as stupid as we want or as ambitious as we want to learn and experience more.
