A person, no longer in charge of the country finally converts to something hes felt towards most of his life, he chooses not to do it when he is running a country (rightly so) so it does not effect his decisions and so the media do not lay into him. not a big deal.

his previous decisions were well-thought, and despite some contradicting his new faith, they were the right thing, freedom of religion, people should not be dictated by the leaders religion, he kept business and religion separate and didn't believe in enforcing his views on others, whats wrong with that?

He has followed his faith -- that's a good thing. While he was Prime Minister, he had an additional role of appointing Anglican bishops, so if he became Catholic ... let's say 10 years ago, this may have been a bit of a problem with some people, especially the Queen since she is the figurehead of the Church of England.

Former prime minister Tony Blair's conversion to Catholicism means he is now a member of the most popular Christian denomination in Britain, according to religious research published on Sunday.

Despite England's official break with the pope in Rome during Henry VIII's reign more than 400 years ago, making Anglicanism and the Church of England dominant, Catholicism is now the most practiced faith in the land.

A survey by the group Christian Research published in the Sunday Telegraph newspaper showed that around 862,000 worshippers attended Catholic Mass each week in 2006, exceeding the 852,000 who went to Church of England services.

Actually this is old news. His spiritual awakening goes back at least 30 years, to his time as an undergraduate at Oxford, but due to political considerations Tony Blair's conversion to Catholicism has been a long time coming.

All I can say is welcome home Tony. God Bless you and your family.

I believe that I heard that his wife is Catholic. Aside from administration, there isn't much to choose between Roman Catholic and Church of England -- which calls itself Catholic.

I hadn't heard the information until I examine your question yet i'm overjoyed. i think of everybody could desire to have the capacity to persist with their own experience of right and incorrect while it is composed of rely of religion. it rather is unhappy that throughout England, worse than in the U. S., being Catholic retains you out of extreme workplace. seem at John F. Kennedy and how he became into the only Roman Catholic to be President of the u . s . a .. yet I continually think of it rather is thrilling while adults substitute faith via fact i think it potential their faith is extra suitable. they do no longer look to be basically blindly sticking to what their father and mom taught them yet truthfully following their own experience of right and incorrect and using their loose will. i'm Catholic, i became right into a lapsed Catholic for awhile, I had themes after my marriage fell aside, yet I back to the church the extra suitable for having labored by way of those themes and examined my own experience of right and incorrect, intentionally choosing my own religious direction.

It is okay with me.

The Catholic Church accepts all recovering sinners. No repentant sinner is ever turned away.
