.... you found out that one of your "enemies" on here (by that I mean the people whose attitudes, answers or lack of answers or plain dimness gets you going GRRRRRR!!!) is your next-door neighbour or workmate (or spouse)?

Let's say it's somebody whom you talk to frequently in real life but you have never discussed religion with them. And as you consider the way you treat each other here on Y!A, you realise that if you treated each other like that in real life, you wouldn't have had the relationship you have now.

Would you;
a) Tell them who you are here on Y!A R&S to see their reaction?

b) Continue your banter on here with more vigour, now that you know who you're REALLY "bashing"?

c) Ignore them on here since it now shames you to know who you're "bashing"?

d) Send them an endless stream of scary emails telling them that you know where they live?

I'm just really curious :-))

I write "enemies" for lack of a better word. I'm sure everyone understands what I mean. ;-)

I'd talk to them about it... laugh together... and continue on, only with perhaps more humor!

Please tell me you work with me! lmao... that would be such a hoot!

Yes I would tell them who I am .

I have a similar story, except that it wasn't an enemy. I work with my boyfriend. We met six months ago at one of our company's offices. One of the first discussions we had was about religion. (He had no idea that I had spent the last year and a half of my life on YA.) He mentioned that he loved to sign on to YA and debate religion. My eyes lit up. I could not believe that I actually knew someone who was also a regular on here. haha Surprisingly, he had seen me around on here, too. Good thing we're the same religion, huh?

Funny as a struggling screen-writer I always thought that would make a great movie - two mortal enemies in virtual reality, meeting and falling in love IRL!

I would probably never admit to them that I knew who they were. I'd probably find a way to let them discover who I was, and see if they approached me about it. Unless it was someone I like and just wanted to mess with, like a boyfriend or something. Then I might send them creepy e-mails... but only for a little while, until they figured me out.

The way I speak about religion on here is pretty much the way I speak about it in real life. Only in real life, I don't go looking for religious discussion; it has a way of finding me all by itself.

Plus my avatar is a picture of myself!

I think he'd know.

*shrugs* Why would I ever keep it a secret who I am in the first place? My husband knows that I post on here and has read several of my postings himself. I know what his handle is.

If he's posting something against me, and I find out that he's lied to me by ommission just to cause trouble, then we'll have an argument because he lied to me, not because of what he said on some idiotic web board.

It is hard to tell if one is trying to give you a hard time, or trying to learn, or trying to see if the ideas they inherited are tenable. Be a bit polite in case your first perception of what is happening isn't totally accurate.

Definatly A. Honesty is always the best policy, however, we shouldn't let it drizzle down to childish fighting. We can all be adults and still have good debate!
