The prophecies concerning the Messiah's name(s) are in Isaiah.
Isaiah 7:14 says that his name shall be called Immanuel.
Isaiah 9:2 says that his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. So why didn't they call him all of those things, too?
The point is, Immanuel is used as a title, a descriptive name used to show part of His character, not a nomen (name). It would be added on to his nomen like Richard -->the Lionhearted<--. Richard is his nomen, Lionheart is his titular name.
So from Isaiah alone, the Messiah should be called Jesus (his nomen from Matthew which is Yehoshua in Hebrew), Immanuel (God with us), Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Learn you some facts about titles and names in the Bible (God is called a whole BUNCH of names), then look at your question again. ^_^

A good point. I'll offer my opinion, for what it's worth.
First, the angel told Joseph to name the Baby, Jesus, a Greek form of Joshua (Hebrew). Matthew gives the reference to Isaiah's prophecy of 700 years or so before this time. This was an active command to Joseph. The other part of the passage relates how THEY will call Him Immanuel, meaning God with us. Jesus is His Name, Immanuel a descriptive word or adjective. No matter what He is called, we can call Him our Savior!

It is suppose to have been Jmmanuel (pronounced as 'Immanuel') - that 'Jesus' was not used until well after his death (yes) say from around 200 AD? approximately.

His name was (is) YAHOSHUA. It means YHVH is my savior. They changed it to HAIL ZEUS when they translated it into Greek, to appeal to the Greeks.
