Read please: Chrsitains, the truth is that the "tree decorating" and what not is a Christianization of **pagan tradition** of celebrating Winter Solstice, a ritual of PAGAN origin and this ritual is comprised of the use of evergreen boughs, thus making it an adaptation of the pagan tree worship for Christians. Knowing this is a solid fact, wouldn't this contradict the religion of Christianity of being a *monothestic* religion (being linked with paganism and the Chruch is vehemently agaisnt paganism) **and the very adaptation of this idea** would directly go against the holiness of Jesus's (PBUH) birth AND the religion? Why do Christians associate the pagan culture of tree worship when it has nothing to do with Jesus's (PBUH) birth? Aren't you actually INSULTING God by involving something God Himself doesn't approve of (seen as a SIN)? Why do you still do it?

I ask this out of curiosity, in light of a quesiton posted by bad tim regarding whether Pagans and atheists could get along if the monotheists were out of the picture....

I am curious bc I beleive you can be a Pagan, and of course not be Wiccan, but also not be a theist. I am a Pagan in my reverence for Mother Earth as a very real planet, with the notion of Her as A Goddess being symbolic more than literal.

I welcome your thoughts.

I grew up w/me mums side of the family going to Full Gospel churches and my fathers going to Southern Baptist.
By blood/heritage my dad is 60% Jewish and 40% Native American
By blood me mum is half irish and half jewish.
My family stopped long ago practicing Judaism.
From the ages 11-15 I preached at small and big churches no matter wat the denomination. Then I finally admitted to my family last year that I was gay.
They flipped.
I hav always been interested in my familys heritage and in religion. Now I have explored so many different religions all awesome yet I am becoming more interested in parallel universes, big bang theory, and sci-fi stuff...

Mainly I am just curious to learn about more people's religions and I'd like to hear some of yalls responses.

What implications does it have for the "gift" some Christians say it was when their god gave it to mankind? For instance, would an animal or microrganism have been allowed to eat from ALL trees in the Garden of Eden?

What are your thoughts (while keeping within the context of the particualr myth)?

Granted - yes they won't think "with a Christian mind" when they make decisions. But give some examples of decisions or things a Mormon would do that would be so bad? Actual things they would do if elected that would hurt you personally.

ANSWER WITH AN EXAMPLE PLEASE.

found this joke thought it was funny, decided to share with all you R&S people.

God said to Adam, "I am going to make you a helper, a companion. What would you like your companion to be like?" Adam replied, "Well I want someone that is humorous, witty, intelligent, compassionate, caring, loving, trusting, polite, generous and beautiful."

God paused a moment after Adam's wish list and told Adam that a companion like that 'would cost him an arm and a leg.' Adam seemed a little dejected and then brightly replied: "What can I get for a Rib?"

People always make me smile when they say that there is so much more crime, murder, gays (for people that think gays are wrong, according to the Bible) today than in the past. Guess what? First of all, in 1000 B.C. There was only 50 million people, we didn't even break the billion mark for world population until around 1800 A.D. There is approximately 6.6 billion people today. Of course the crime is much higher!
Secondly, we have almost instant worldwide communications to report what's going on, on the other side of the US, or the world for that matter.
Third, people are much more open (yes, there were many gays in the past), and won't be killed for liking the same sex. Also, it is widely encouraged to report a rape/incest/murder, by various organizations and society. It's scary to imagine how much incest went on in the past that no one reported. How many young women had children by their father or uncle and the wife took them on as her own child? The worlds no scarier today!!

If they didn't want the prayer, would you pray anyway? That's wrong isn't it? Like you are right and they are wrong. Forceing the issue.

Why do christians jump to the conclusion that "x-mas" is a modern way of "taking the 'christ' out of 'Christmas'," when the smallest bit of research will show that "x" is used as an abbr. for the Greek, "christos" and "x-mas" has been used for a thousand years, even in New Testament manuscripts?

(Zechariah 3:1-2) 3 And he proceeded to show me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Jehovah, and Satan standing at his right hand in order to resist him. 2 Then [the angel of] Jehovah said to Satan: “Jehovah rebuke you, O Satan, yes, Jehovah rebuke you, he who is choosing Jerusalem! Is this one not a log snatched out of the fire?”

If religion is all about being crazy, then why do they fight and ridicule each other when they are in the same boat?

It's a pagan tradition. The bible says it's wrong to have one. Yet millions of Christians put them up each year and think nothing of it. Jeremiah 10:2-4: "Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."
