I completely agree with your assessment if you are praying to change them in some way. Especially, if you ask someone else to pray for that person with you. It is like saying you are right and they are wrong.
I have had this done to me several times and find it quite offensive.
Scenario: My wife to my kids -- "Let's pray for dad so he becomes a Christian."

If you're friend feels like you are only praying for them because they feel you are passsing judgement on them or forcing your religion onto them, I'd stop. Otherwise, I'd say if someone says they don't want your prayers, that's probably all the more reason TO pray for them. However I would not let them know. "Solo" praying is nobody's business but your own anyways.

I don't think so... Sometimes people are so upset with their lives that they don't think they even want help, but in the end the will thank God for the answer prayer. Prayer is something personal between you and God. It's kind of like you know someone is in need of something like a car, but you have friend that's looking to give one away. Your friend may not want to take the car, but wouldn't you still try?

The person's not going to know, and it's not going to make a difference anyway. I think when people pray for someone else, they do it to make themselves feel better (and sometimes, superior).

I think you can pray for someone and not let them know you are praying for them. This would not be forcing the issue with them. Sometimes people don't know what they need. This is why the Lord has allowed someone who prays to be in their life.
This is just like with young children, they don't know what is good for them or what they need, that is why they have parents who (hopefully) will lead them in the way they should go.

If they didnt want to pray, you just have to pray for them in your own prayer time not directly with them. One day, there'll be a situation God will make them realise the power of that prayer.

Why not? If you believe that Jesus is real and answers prayers, then by all means, pray for them. Just because they don't believe he exists doesn't mean that he doesn't. It's better to please God than man. Most people I know who don't believe still appreciate the prayers.

Yes you are right but God believers do not listen to any body.
They like to force their prayer.
