Read please: Chrsitains, the truth is that the "tree decorating" and what not is a Christianization of **pagan tradition** of celebrating Winter Solstice, a ritual of PAGAN origin and this ritual is comprised of the use of evergreen boughs, thus making it an adaptation of the pagan tree worship for Christians. Knowing this is a solid fact, wouldn't this contradict the religion of Christianity of being a *monothestic* religion (being linked with paganism and the Chruch is vehemently agaisnt paganism) **and the very adaptation of this idea** would directly go against the holiness of Jesus's (PBUH) birth AND the religion? Why do Christians associate the pagan culture of tree worship when it has nothing to do with Jesus's (PBUH) birth? Aren't you actually INSULTING God by involving something God Himself doesn't approve of (seen as a SIN)? Why do you still do it?

I agree with you. As far as I'm concerned, however, there are certain holidays that have been around for so long they have simply become "tradition". Christians celebrate the birth of Christ, but all the extra stuff is just that... extra stuff. Santa Claus, reindeer, Christmas trees, stockings on the chimney, etc., is just a bunch of fun stuff to do that has no religious significance. Pagans worshiped trees, and that was sinful, but the mere act of decorating a tree inside your home because it is a fun and customary thing to do is not. I'm not sure how many Christians realize this, but Jesus was not even born on December 25. I actually believe he was born in the spring, but I still celebrate his birth with everyone else in December because it would seem kind of weird if I chose to celebrate it in April.

On a similar note, Paul wrote the Corinthians (see 1Cor 10:27-28) on the topic of participation in pagan rituals. Specifically, he said that if you're invited to a pagan feast, go ahead and eat with them. However, if you are told that by eating at such a feast you'd be participating in idol worship, then it's better not to eat. So you see, although having a tree in one's home may have its roots in paganism, it's acceptable as long as you aren't bowing down before it and sacrificing animals for it. In other words... the Christmas tree has absolutely nothing to do with Christian worship.

ok the concern with what you're saying is which you're curiously unaware that we aren't any extra sure via the regulation and stay freely under the dispensation of Grace. Our movements do not keep us and so we aren't any extra under the regulation as I reported. I even have the liberty in Christ to have a Christmas tree and get tattoos and artwork on Sunday and each form of alternative issues that the staunch traditionalist Christians have faith are incorrect even inspite of the undeniable fact that they don't look to be Biblical. a million Corinthians 6:12 "each little thing is permissible for me yet not each little thing is effective. each little thing is permissible for me yet i can't be mastered via something." So beings how i'm not in any way mastered via the Christmas tree or this trip season in fact there is not something that biblically does not enable me to have a tree

Most christians do not study where their religion came from.
Most christians do not question that dude up on the stage that does the preaching.
Most christians are taught the meaning od x-mas by their loving (yet ignorant) family.
The tradition is handed down from generation to generation without any question, research, study or fact finding mission at all.
Then some poor doof mentions Paganism because they may have actually read a book, and the un-informed, hand-me-down, christians gets realy upset.
That means they will now have to shut their eyes to the truth, or openly live a lie.
To day is the day of questioning authority.
QUESTION ON MY CHILDREN.
Learn the facts for yourselves and stop being spoon fead the crap that mom and dad took as gosple.

Yes, the Christmas Tree has Pagan origins -- representing Yggdrasil, the tree the Universe was built on in Norse cosmology -- but it has definitely taken on new meaning since it has been Christianized. I have heard that it represented the Tree in the Garden of Eden, with the balls being the apples, and the garland being the snake, or that it represents the Cross that Jesus died on. So, when they converted the Pagans, they let them keep their customs, just gave them new meanings. Same thing with Easter Eggs. Dyed eggs are found in tombs in Greece.

Anyway, Christians can have their Christmas Trees. I'll still put one up, too. I'll just call it a Yule Tree.

Uh... we know that already. By the way Dec 25th is not his birthday either. No one is saying that there is anything holy about a Christmas tree. Some have however given it symbolic meaning to Christianity - you can look those up if you want to.

With all the commercialism, it is a wonder at all that people think about the birth of Christ. The holiday is more custom than it is religion.

Most Christians know all about the origin of the Christmas tree.....I don't put one up but I am guilty of looking at the ones, others put up...I don't worship them and I don't know anyone who does...most Christmas trees I see are there because they are pretty and it gives people a place to put their gifts under....some say it is wrong, so I don't do it but I will not condemn anyone for having a tree,,I don't know their heart, but I am quite sure,,,it is not done for worship purposes....in the United States,,, I can't speak for other countries.... if they don't feel condemned in their heart,,then I see no problem with them....but I always follow the path of,,,"If in doubt,,don't" works for me....

Every man has to decide in his heart what he believes. God was referring to the worship of trees. You must be careful about taking Old Testament laws or rules and Trying to make them apply to us today. We are under Grace...anything you put above God in your life can be worshiping an idol. I wouldn't worry about someones tree as much as I would worry if I have any idol worship going on in my own life....Have a new car you worship, maybe? Or how about that new boat? Walk softly when you accuse others of worshiping something...you may be guilty yourself.....sermon done.

well, if you really look at it every christian holiday is based on a pagan one. the church did that to apease the concored pagans after christianity was forced on the whole world. hell, if you want to get all technical jesus was not even born in or around Dec. there just is no way possible the winters in the middle east are not nice. so there is no way any sheperds would be out in the feilds at night to see the star.

For me it symbolizes the everlasting life since the evergreen tree does stay green throughout the year rather then shedding it's leaves. You have a problem with that? Tough!
And I agree with the other answers saying this question has been done to often lately! Of that I am positive!

It might be if we WORSHIPED it. Since we don't I think we can regard it as simply a pretty decoration. We adopted that particular symbol over 1000 years ago as well. Exactly how long to we have to use it before we can accept it as a piece of our own secular christamas tradition?

in the garden of Eden

was the TREE OF LIFE

JESUS CHRIST

i dont worship a christmas tree
I WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST
and do it everyday not just on Dec25th

BUT putting up a Christmas tree is neother here nor there

are you worshipping your hair when you put it up
or your car when you drive it
or your money when you get it
i dont think so

neither do people with Cristmas trees or decorations
and gifts are givin in the outward showing of Gods GIFTS to us !!!

wich people wpuld get off the whining about pagans and the Christams tree thing its gotten old

even in Christs day they worshipped all manner of idols as they still do today

and i will say this as it is WRITTEN
""ANY THING AND ANYONE YOU MAKE YOURSELF SUBJECT TO IS YOUR GOD""

whether that be yourselfs , cars , money , clothes , people , houses , possessions , animals...anything and anyone you put above the REAL TRUE GOD

and having a lawn ornament or a Christams tree doesnt make one worshipping it
only enjoying the holiday we and the WORLD REMEMBERS
JESUS CHRIST
and HIS GIFT TO MAN
HIMSELF

what other day do you know gets as much attention and is commented on the most

especially by non-believers
and ALL are HEARING GODS WORD at this time of YEAR
SO waht better way to celebrate it then telling someone the TRUTH of IT

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD
and on this Dec 25th we celebrate HIS arrival into the World to REDEEM man back to Himself

JOY TO THE WORLD
and to GOD
on HIGH
