Why can't muslim women show any of their hair? Not even the hair on the forehead (that's not seductive)?

Catholics don't have to unless you want to be a nun.
But the Quran tells Muslim woman to wear a hiijab.

That's a choice. God does not command it. If you want to be celibate so you can have a single life devoted to God you can. God won't punish you nor does he demand you to cover your hair.

I don't believe those of you who say hair makes men sexually stimulated, even the forehead hair! If hair is glory and "can't be seen" for some reason, aren't eyes more glorious than hair?

Because it's religon. They belive in it . The women too. It's not like they think of it as a big deal. You should really hear from their side. They were born knowing that they would get that in their lives they grew up liek that. They'll die like that. i'm sure they're over there saying.' Why do the men let those women walk around baring skin like that. They even show their faces.'

Muslim women can not show not only their hairs but also all part of their bodies except their faces and their arms..It is the insruction of Allah the only one God as spoken in the holy Qur'an e.g Surah 7 Al Araaf verse 26,surah 24An Nuur verse 31 and surah 33 Al Ahzab verse 59.God spoke that all parts of qoman body are aurat (can not be seen by others except her close relatives e.g her parents,her husband and her children)except her face and arms.It should be covered by long dress and hijab and she can not wear a so tight or transparant clothes.
Most all part of the body of woman including her hairs and her voice can invite male for having a seduction.Wearing a hijab will make muslim woman be different with non muslim woman and will give her a safety..A good muslim woman should comply to God's regulations.It becomes an islamic ethic for women when they are going out.

Because hair are a part integral of a woman sexuality.
During the Middle Ages women wore veils, and until some 200 years ago, a woman didn't let her hair down in public. Only her husband could see her with her hair down.
Also, for ages, the way to publicly shame a woman has been to shave her head. In France, after WWII, the women who had consorted with the germans were shaved and paraded through town.

I was curious about this too and did some googling apparently in their culture seeing a woman s face can lead to inciting or exciting men, even speaking as well. (they are not allowed to speak in public according to what i have read) or even where high heels under their dress (apparently men can become excited by a woman s footsteps). but that is the reason. The covering is mean to keep women from enticing men. though in Saudi Arabia it goes farther as they have to wear the dress hijab and a veil. the only thing allowed to be seen are the eyes and hands.

That rule was not actually made up by the Muslims, they chose to blend with the lands the conquered (sorry, I forgot which land) after the religion's inception. As far as why, at this point, it's tradition. I doubt anyone who follows this rule has any issue with showing forehead hair other than the fact that it's against the "rules."

If you can answer that question, I think you will understand why...

UPDATE: Well, why do Catholic nuns allow themselves to dress like that? Is it the fashion? No, I don't think so...why do you think they wear those "penguin" clothes? Do you think they are very comfortable in them, especially in the heat? So, there is a higher purpose for doing something like that, and you will find it very similar to the reason Muslim women cover themselves up, and expose only their face and hands.

Because some dumb ass male made up the rule to suit himself and his dude friends. The men don't suffer under all that cloth like the ladies do. Hair is dirty to thoes dumb asses. They think that their God won't want to see dirty. This is what Iv'e been taught...? Am I wrong?

im not muslim but people have been telling me and according to online research, both resources said that they could only show their hair to their husband. if they are outside or single, they have to cover themselves with that cloth that im sure you've seen.

Because woman's hair is her glory. and a very beautiful thing. and only the husband should have the privilege of seeing his wife's hair. it is a beautiful and respectable tradition. you can bet those women are not mistaken for whores.
