I know that works will follow all true believers.I do not believe that once were saved, were always saved. But these things have nothing to do with my question. Its not about the do's and don'ts.
I just want to know what does it take for me to begin my Christian life?

I ask in the thought it may give us reason to think how best to reach those we hope to reach.

Who here has REALLY talked with JWs before? I mean sit down and ask questions about our beliefs?

The reason I ask is because I see such hatred along with "wrong" information about us floating around here. So how many have REALLY talked with us to get your questions answered so you can make informed decision for yourself based on what you find out?

I mean Heaven is one thing but to think that the non worthy go to a place where they burn for eternity is a little bit overboard...Yea,real nice place to go when you die...It does not make a bit of sense and you know that it has never existed and will never exist....Thomas

...why should modern Christians favor Bible literalism and inerrancy?

Jesus teachings show a progressive view of Jewish law. (O ye hypocrites, sabbath was made for man, refutation fo purity laws, going against Moses's teaching on divorce, thinking for one's self, "You have heard it said ___________, but truly I say to you ____________" etc...) He clearly was into the Bible, but he was not a literalist and favored common sense when applying the scriptures.

If Jesus favored a, for lack of a better term, practical exegesis, why shouldn't modern Christians favor the same?

Has anyone NOT put their child through pre school? and if you have not, did it cause them problems in kindergarden?
My son is very smart, he is adding and subtracting, can (kind of) write and reads 3 letter words BUT HATES the parts of pre school where he has to sit on the rug. It has caused MANY problems including the teachers calling for me to pick him up.
They also suggested a "worker" come in and be with him for the duration of the school at all times, but when I asked the HEAD of the preschool, she said that is "not the first step" and that first a "worker" comes in and helps the teachers figure out better ways of dealing with ALL the kids.
The teachers also have asked me to pick my son up half hour earlier than the other kids, when this was brought up to the "head", she told me that this is not usuall and talked to the teachers who now will not talk or even look at me.
I am very discouraged here, my son hates pre school and says its boring!

I don't believe in God. It's not that I despise my life or anything in it. I'm actually quite satisfied with the love and relationships that I've cultivated.

I suppose I'm tired of being looked at like I'm missing something, because I know that I'm not.

I was a Christian for the first 2/3rds of my life, mostly because I wasn't given much of a choice. I spent that time being as faithful as I could to the cause, but I just never felt like it was right. As I got older in the church, I became more and more depressed. I thought that I was missing out on some clue or link that would explain everything I was being taught. From an objective point of view, the stories in the Bible are nonsense.

Perhaps I'm just not as good at lying to myself as the rest of you are. I honestly don't think I'm evil or have problems with "Demons". I love, care and work to help those around me. I don't try to pull people away from God, if they feel that religion works for them. I just try to be reasonable.

How is it that you all believe that Noah actually gathered 2 animals of every species and put them on this tiny boat. Does it ever cross your minds that the story like many other stories in the bible is made up.

Who would agree Al-Quaeda is our modern day analogy of barbarians, they hold their religion as the absolute truth, fact, and indeed guide to how everyone should live, and those that don't agree are infidels only worthy of destruction.....seems quite barbaric to me, your thoughts?

The NT describes itself as a "better testament", but what's better of good/better is only better for some, not all.

Perhaps His Grace is eternal and has neither beginning nor end, so what's best of good/better testaments is neither.

In the beginning God? Eternal God has no beginning of days nor end of life. Only what began can end. Law began.

Beginning of NT: it's the beginning of sorrows.

If NT finds fault with OT, but NT is contained in OT as one of twain: Law or Grace, does it then not also find fault with itself?

Perhaps it's a shew about Law vs Grace prevails; a two part shew about a third part: the grace of JC is not Noahic grace. Hence the clarity in the end written: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all (against none of you). Amen.

When the Holy Bible containing Old and New Testaments is ended properly, as written, then perhaps it never happened.

What are your thoughts about such allegoric mystery?

My dad and I had this talk last night about illogical arguements about Christianiy (He is a Christian by the way) and my biggest "I just don't get it" thing was why everyone prayed to Jesus instead of God. If Jesus WAS God then wouldn't it make sense to pray to God instead? Wouldn't Jesus be sort of a middle man? Even what I was Christian, I never prayed to Jesus. It wasn't a concious decision or anything, it just didn't make any sense. I always figured if I was going to pray to GOD then I should pray to GOD. What was your top "I don't get it"?

I mean it wasn't the Mormons who started the Inquisition, ran the Crusades, burnt witches or operate the Ku Klux Klan (yeah, I'm looking at you Mike Huckabee,) nor were they involved in the Holocaust, the 30 Years War or a thousand other atrocities committed by Protestants and Catholics in Europe over the centuries.
In fact, it may be that Mormonism is one of the only decent forms of Christianity that has ever existed. Maybe you ought to be adopting whatever it is about them that keeps them from regularly getting involved in the hateful garbage that bogs down so much of the rest of Christianity.
Nobody's religion gets to be immune from scrutiny and criticism. NOBODY'S. If Huckabee thinks he can attack Romney without having to play defense, he better think again ... or does he think he walks on water?

I ask this question in follow up to a response from a question I posted earlier whether or not Muslims believe Jesus was born of a virgin. It appears Muslims believe Jesus was born of a virgin.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avkb9vY7eZ4w.N2Ktbipkfnsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071212104616AALcKBM

In particular, look at this response by Kimo.

Yes, and we believe he was the Messiah.

[3:45-47]
Behold the angels said: O Mary God giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to God;
He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. and he shall be (of the company) of the righteous.
She said: O my lord how shall i have a son when no man hath touched me? he said: even so: God createth what he willeth: when he hath decreed a plan, he but saith to it, be, and it is

How can Jesus be called Christ if He is not the messiah?
