I think the basic problem with the catholic church is the fact that they force their priests to be celibate. Its just not natural for a man

I've seen alot of people defending catholic priests saying that only 1% or 5% of them are like this, and that's not a majority, so the guy who asked this is an idiot. While you all might be absolutely correct about that, if there's even a one in one-hundred or five in one-hundred chance of a catholic priest being a pedophile, I'd say that's an alarming rate, wouldn't you? Now there's a lottery I don't wanna play...
...so I guess for every 95 happy, unabused little altar boys out there, there are 5 who are remarkabley less happy.

I think Paedophiles will always go where there is children, and anyone who wants to be a priest will be really checked out. There is a big clamp down now, and it is not before time. My grandchildren all go to Church with their mum, and all the children are supervised at all times.

There are over 400,000 Catholic priests in the world. You think 20 or 30 is a majority? Or even if each of the 300 lawsuits was for a different priest, that's still 0.075%

As a form of who replaced into abused while youthful (however no longer in eire and not by utilising a clergyman) i will say that the superiority of baby abuse by utilising an entire style of individuals has been taking place for years. In my case it replaced right into a relative who consequently handed me directly to a various woman. I survived it because of the fact in those days I asked around and replaced into instructed by utilising others that this replaced into style of standard yet to maintain it secret so as to no longer get adults into problem. I went directly to lead a extremely "popular" lifestyles in spite of this and have had 2 babies with a loving spouse. i don't sense vindictive in direction of those that did the abuse. as a ways because of the fact the church is going i think of there would desire to be extra beneficial involvement in it of ladies and it is going to come to a decision on it extremely is monks from the worth contributors of the same old people who're already married with little ones. The celibate clergy would desire to be a piece of the previous.

If that was really the case there wouldn't be many left practising they're faith now would there?
As someone else asked, what is the basis of your question for you to ask this?
A minority could be, but not the majority regardless of they're faith, position, status.
Unfortunatley it seems for the some decades now if not through til the time being that there are minorities of such figures who commit such evil actions across the world.

This is really a foolish question. Do you have any basis for your assumption?
A majority would be 51% or more right? A high majority is what say 90% and above? And you really think you have accuretely portrayed all Catholic priests from Ireland?
The honest answer to your question is simply, you are mistaken, they are not.

The percentage among priests most likely represents the percentage among non priests. Why would you believe differently? The only reason pedophile priests make national news is because they are priests. Your local pedophile only gets local coverage.

The same way an anti-christian lashes out without checking his facts, and ending up deliberating misrepresenting stories he puts out for public consumption.
