Jews do not accept Jesus as the messiah because:

1) Jesus did not fulfill the messianic prophecies.

2) Jesus did not embody the personal qualifications of the Messiah.

3) Biblical verses "referring" to Jesus are mistranslations.

because he wasn't.

think of it this way. you belie he was and did certain things.

WHAT it is, that you belive him to have been, does not describe what Judaism calls the Messiah.

the Jewish Messiah's purpose and function being fulfilled by him, proves that he is it. ... if these tasks are not done, the he hasn't come.

guess what. they still, to this day, have not been completed.

many of the things christians believe about Jesus are in absolute contradiction to Judaism.

the Jewish Messiah is NOT related to sin and repentance. the Jewish Messiah's purpose is not being sacrificed or dying or anything like that.
the Jewish Messiah also has 2 human biological parents and is just a man.

in Judaism theres also no eternal hell, devil, or original sin.

edit for below:
"Jews for Jesus" are not jewish. they are christians. they are not a part or related to Judaism whatsoever.

Well, I'll just ignore the double negative because you're so young then.

Anywhoo, the Jews had a great deal of prophesies about what the Messiah's life would entail, and Jesus did not fulfill all of them. Because Jesus died without freeing Israel from Rome's domination which their prophesies said the Messiah would, they do not think he was it.

This is in no way an inclusive answer, but maybe it can supplement some of those you have already received.

Many Christians look at J. as a messiah, deliverer, savior in regards to their individual spiritual life--a personal one-on-one relationship that delivers one from evil inclinations; it's more esoteric.

In contrast, many Jews are waiting for a human, mortal (not divine) messiah, deliverer, savior in regards to events upon this earth--a leader who will deliver them as a GROUP, from evil flesh-and blood manifestations such as dictators, persecutors, etc. to Israel, to an actual, rebuilt, real-life Temple.

Most Jewish people consider the literal, geographical Israel to be their homeland. Most Christian people do not, of course, as most are descended from people who were non- Israelites / Gentiles.

The Christian peoples thus do not have aspirations for a literal deliverance to Israel, but messianic terminology has been adapted and applied, by many, in a metaphorical, individual sense; they think of being delivered to a personal, individual "Zion," with one's body as a temple.

Why don't Jewish people believe that Jesus was not the Messiah? They do believe that. Most Jewish people believe that he was not the Messiah. So, what's your point?

According to mainline messianic beliefs, the messiah would conquer Israel and establish Israel as the ruler of the known world, with Jerusalem as the headquarters, and rebuild the temple. Jesus did none of these things.

Messianic Jews do beleive he is the Messiah.
Orthodox and Conservative do not.
there are many passages in the bible that have the definition of the Messiah. All the prophecies that need to be fulfilled.
To Orthodox Jews, Jesus did not fulfill those prophecies
Though I feel that people tend to mis-interpret passages.
I have nothing against people's rights to choose what they beleive.
I love learning from all aspects of Judaism and seeing what feels right in my heart. I do beleive that Jesus is someone special, who had a peaceful message, one of love and acceptance.
In a way, I do feel that he will come back when the time is right and reign over us for a thousand years. Though if he doesn't. It would be just the same to me.
I have a lot of growing to do spiritually.

judaism believes that the messiah would not need to pull cheap tricks like changing wine into water, walking on the sea, and raising people from the dead.

jews are looking for a second coming - not a david blaine special.

Because the belief that God would become human is the ultimate heresy! Have you wondered why Jesus is considered the "perfect" sacrifice? Jews consider human sacrifice to be an abomination!

"Jews" for Jesus and Messianic "Jews" are Christians who pretend to be Jews in order to convert secular Jews to Christianity. Beware!
