Who here has REALLY talked with JWs before? I mean sit down and ask questions about our beliefs?

The reason I ask is because I see such hatred along with "wrong" information about us floating around here. So how many have REALLY talked with us to get your questions answered so you can make informed decision for yourself based on what you find out?

By the way.. Pls only honest answers... Im curious to see how many have actually done have talked to us with their questions. I know we knock on doors every day of the week, but have you stopped us and asked us your questions?????? We understand that people have their own religions, but we all agree that this world is going no where really fast under mans rule. So whats the answer? You know, the Bible tells us. It is Gods Kingdom.

CVO, we use the New World Translations of the Holy Scriptures. We also can and do use many other Bibles. Here at my house I have the King James Version as well as New International Version, New Amercian Standard Bible, and the New Living Translation. But as a general rule we use the New World Translation because it is easier to understand.

Thank you to the ones who have been respectful of our religion and in your dealings with JWs. We are normal people and we are just out there trying to help.

Beliver in God,
Congrats on your studies with JWs. I hope one day you reach a point of baptism and we can welcome you as one of our worldwide brothers and sister. I encourage you to talk to whomever studies with you regarding your struggles in giving up Christmas. I know they will be able to help you and show you more from the Bible regarding your concerns. Pls continue with your studies and let us know whatever we can do to help you. As you can see reading things here on this site, many people have a "wrong" view of us and our beliefs, so pls be very careful. Keep up the good work! :)

Just a girl brought out a really good point.. For the one who said we don't believe Jesus is Gods son... This is exactly why I say talk to us directly!!!! We DO believe Jesus is Jehovahs Son.

Hey there Monica,
The autumn of the year 1975 marks the end of 6,000 years of human experience. 6,000 years from his (Jehovahs) creating. Nobody can pinpoint the exact date, but they knew it was something significant. This is not to say that some JWs independantly thought this year (1975) might be the end. The same with 1914. We knew something was significant going to happen this year. This is the year Jesus was enthroned as King. JWs as an organization has never published that the end of the world was coming at any date. That would be out of harmony with what the Bible says when it says "nobody knows the day nor the hour"

2007-12-12 07:54:19 · update #7

Monica...
another reason why nobody knows the day nor the hour is because if they did, think about it, what would people do. If Jehovah told us ok XXX month and XXX day of XXX year, everyone would live their life the way THEY wanted until they got close to that date. Then when that date approached they would hurry up and startig cleaning up their life and serve Jehovah out of selfish reasons. With Jehovah doing it this way, he knows that if you are serving him now, and continue without knowing the day nor the hour, you are serving him for the right reasons, not selfish. :) I hope this makes sense. Take care!! I hope this helps.

Yes.

It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. A few may have had a bad personal experience with an individual who claimed to be a Jehovah's Witness, and prejudicially extended their animus to this entire Christian religion.

However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.

(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers

Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:

(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.

(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Well ... I remember when I was a teenager I used to have friendly debates with a JW that hung around downtown. I'd be sitting waiting for the bus, and he'd just come up and start. It was always respectful from both sides, and I think we both enjoyed our chats.

When I was 30 I worked with a JW. Nice guy ... one day around Christmastime I brought him a gift in a plain paper lunch bag and told him it was just a gift for no reason. You should have seen how happy he was :o) he said that's what he and his family do. No holidays or birthdays doesn't mean no gifts, it just means you're more surprised when you get one, since they can come at any time. He told me a little about his religion, but I'm sure he could tell he wasn't getting far, and he would get upset. So eventually he stopped trying and we would just chat occasionally. He was always telling me how hard it was to find a good wife, since he can only marry another JW. And it's really interesting how so many of them know each other. It's a tight knit group.

At that time I did go to the trouble to check it out online. What bothers me the most is that JWs kept predicting the end of the world and kept being wrong. Then the church would undergo a reorganization and pick up where it left off. I understand they have a great sense of community, but I don't understand how that relates to belief, or why people would want to join. Do you have any comments on this?

I'm not saying this to insult you, that's just my reasoning. I've always found JWs to be so friendly. No hate here.

What a shame some of the misconceptions that people have about J.Ws. That we dont believe Jesus the son of God, how wrong. Charles Taze Russel never claimed to be a prophet ever but this false story going around for years along with other untruths. Plus in no place is the Nw translation altered. Like you I use all translations in personal study. We check all scripure for ourselves just as the ancient Bereans did.

That was a question, (similiar) that I was gonna ask. I am studying with JW right now and I am confused right now, cause I am not sure that is what I want to believe. I love Christmas, that is my favorite time of year and JW's don't celebrate that holiday. And I don't know if I am ready to give that up. I Love the people that I am studying with. Don't get me wrong. They are beautiful people. But I am not sure, I am confused. I do read the Bible and I believe in the Bible, it is a true Book and I know it don't lie, but I just don't know what I want. God Bless

Based on my own personal experience, there are a lot of people who have not talked to Witnesses. They hear we don't celebrate Christmas or believe in the trinity and all of sudden we're evil. Most don't try, nor want, to understand. A lot of churches tell their members not to talk to us. They say our bible is corrupt. Point of the matter is - Jehovah knows our hearts and he draws the honest hearted ones to him. Those are the ones we want to find. Of course the truth seems obvious to us, but there will only be a "few" who find that "cramped and narrow road" - and I don't think there's one bible out there that doesn't relate that fact.

Yes, Anthony and I have a good long chat every Friday on his "rounds". I admire your folks - going against the grain of saying that Jesus is not God! and then going out of your way to tell others about it.

Before the Nicene Council in 325CE and the 300 or so bishops who met, nobody thought Jesus was God anyway. So were the people who lived from 1CE to 325CE burning in hell now?

I am a witness also. I am actually at school right now and i am preaching online. that is why i am on the religion part of answers. i am really happy to see a witness online. yes, we preach everyday of the week and all people do is slam doors on us just by the first glance on what is i n our hand. seriously, have they really considered the information in the bible rather thatn considering what man thinks?i was a householder in the second school for a theocratic ministry school and the sister talked to me about evolution.evolution is what man thinks and they claim they have"proof". why would they do all that research when they have the bible? The world was round and man thought it was flat. they didnt beleive it was a sphere. but the bible had said it was a sphere all along. this proves the bible has real information.again, as a young christian, i am glad toknow u are witness. i would tell u what congregation i am in but you never knowwho is on the interent(mentioned in a watchtower).

Honestly, no. Therefore I don't pass judgement. I've read about their beliefs on my own however, but haven't been able to talk to them.

I'd like to, but have steered clear because whenever they came to my home, it was when I lived with my parents and they were very adamant about not wanting them there period. So out of respect for my parents, I'd simply tell them 'No thank you. Good day!' at the door.

I really would like to however. Not because I want to convert - I'm very happy with my own faith. But a good intellectual religious conversation is always welcome, and understanding people from another belief system is always enlightening ^_^

it extremely is in simple terms my humble opinion, yet once I have been on the recieving end of the two of those declarations, it may make me uncomfortable, and alter my relationship with the guy affirming. you've super affection for the brothers and sisters without affirming an impossible love. i will see the 2d scenario as a reaction, from an older brother to a youthful sister who cas a weigh down on HIM, to difuse the placement, and nonetheless depart her together with her dignity intact. particularly, re-examining the two eventualities, a similar applies for the 1st, if a brother shows interest in a sister who does no longer be keen for despite reason, thus far the brother, this would be the thank you to enable him down straight forward. i could problem however, for this reason, on the subject of the respond making hinm re-evaluate his option to flow to the MTS. does no longer elect to confirm that take place.

One of my friends is a JW. We have long discussions about the differences in our beliefs, and frankly, after nearly a year of hearing it, I am still not totally convinced. For instance, the whole 'shunning' thing, where someone who makes a mistake is disowned by their congregation AND maybe even their family. In my church, sinners are welcome. And if you believe that your church members will be 'tainted' by a 'sinner,' trust them enough to know better. This is where the whole 'judgemental' aspect comes into play.
