Salvation is by Grace through Faith plus nothing...
Ephesians 2:8-13
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Romans 10:8-17
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
By faith in the Gosepl of Christ...
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Grace and Peace!

Because of soft significance. I have saved plenty of my kid's matters that they made for me, like for Mother's Day or some thing they could have got an award for at institution. Or exact toy they've gotten from a exact character. OR- for me, it's saving publication units, like cooking, embroidery/go sewing, as good as snap shots from a earlier marriage or graphics of the children. I have a few of my school books or image album, and even matters that I acquired as souvenirs from a travel to California in which I had certainly not been earlier than. I actually have a promise ring and necklace variety an historic boyfriend, due to the fact they're truly diamonds.

First step: HEAR the Word, Romans 10:17.
Second step: BELIEVE what you've heard, Romans 10:9-10, Hebrews 11:6.
Third step: REPENT of your sins, Luke 13:3.
Fourth step: CONFESS Jesus to be the Son of God, Matthew 10:32-33.
Fifth step: BE BAPTIZED for the remission of sins, Acts 2:38, 8:37-38.
God adds you to His church, Romans 16:16, and you wear a name that is above every name (Acts 11:26, 26:28, 1 Peter 4:16). You must also BE FAITHFUL unto death, Acts 2:42, Revelation 2:10.
You start your Christian journey by following Jesus faithfully, putting God first in your life, faithfully attending worship services at a Church of Christ near you, and promising to share your faith with others.

Jesus said that you must be born again to be saved.
As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said "...Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again...." (John 3:3-7).
The phrase "born again" literally means "born from above." Nicodemus had a real need. He needed a change of his heart--a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes (2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7; 5:1-4, 18). John 1:12,13 indicates that "born again" also carries the idea "to become children of God" through trust in the name of Jesus Christ.

Do? You do not need to DO anything. Salvation is a gift from God. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, ALL who believe that Christ died for the sins of the world, and that He raised Himself from the dead 3 days later, and ascended into heaven will receive eternal life.

First off, don't get caught up in the prevalent packaging of legalism going around in Pharisee-esque churches today. Likewise, if you pay attention to the messages of results-oriented pastors like Joel Osteen and Mike Murdock, you'll only get half the message of Christ. Don't we wish we'd all be outrageously successful (wealthy and fortunate) if we simply follow Christ! Jesus didn't die so we could be rich, but that we would be saved from eternal damnation.
The Truth (as I understand it) is this: He died for your sins. You only need accept that fact to be accepted by Him, have your sins forgiven, and develop a mutual relationship with the God of the Universe. (John 14:6)
Pray daily, read the Bible, and find a Bible-teaching church with which to fellowship and grow in the Word. (John 1:1-3.)
One can lose his/her salvation by turning away as a washed pig returns to his mud, so be sure that you read the Bible to ascertain what is good and what is evil. Live accordingly.
Other than that, CONGRATULATIONS on making the best decision of your life.
God bless!

The first, and most important, step of a Christian life is to enter into (accept) the covenant of the New Testament for forgiveness of sin and salvation of the eternal soul thru Jesus, Son of the one true God.
Growing in spirit happens after thru prayer, fellowship, works, and study of the Holy Bible.

Your basic answer is accept Jesus Christ as the son of God, believe he was sent to earth by his father to offer salvation for all people, died at the Cross, and was reborn and sits at the right hand of God. And be baptized. I know there are conflicting views as to what is proper Baptizing. From what I have learned (based on the Bible) one needs to be reborn via submersion in water.
Another comment about Works. No one can earn their way to heaven. God comes to you, you don't go to God. However, a true believer will want to do good things for others because you know it is the right thing to do.

Acts 8:37
And Philip said, If you believe from all your heart, you will be saved. And he ANSWERED and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
The Eunuch's answering was his confessing.
Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved.
Good Question brother Don.
May we treasure this gift of salvation given to us.
In Christ

Seek to do the will of God.
John 5:30 -- I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
Matthew 7:21 -- "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Matthew 12:50 -- For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."
