Who would agree Al-Quaeda is our modern day analogy of barbarians, they hold their religion as the absolute truth, fact, and indeed guide to how everyone should live, and those that don't agree are infidels only worthy of destruction.....seems quite barbaric to me, your thoughts?

Actually, they formed to defend their homeland, starting in Afghanistan. It's not a religious war but a geographical one. Some protective male sorts were going to come after us in response to attitudes like this:

"""Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it.

I wouldn't agree, because as far as I see, there's not a lot to that group. It might in fact be a fabrication.

Where's Bin Laden?

The only people I see holding religion in so absolute terms are American fundamentalists. I can't believe how stupid fellow North Americans can be sometimes. If you know any of these people, tell them they're unwelcomed in Canada.

I think Americans are quite barbaric. They seem to think that violence is the answer to everything, even after having their revolution in the 60's. Why is that?

Americans don't even know half the time what their military is doing overseas, then they get shocked by something like 9/11, which was obviously going to happen at some point.

Americans voted in Bush two times, and despite low ratings, still don't get him to step down. Most modern democracies just ask, then leaders comply. That's democracy.

Americans find ways to make torture legal. The death penalty exists in the U.S. Education levels are low. Health care isn't guaranteed to all of its citizens.

I can't wait until China's economy completely eradicates any thought that the U.S. has a strong one.

Regardless, Americans are poor of spirit, and have little taste, so it doesn't matter how much money they have.

True Barbarians.

Hold their religion as the absolute truth? Hmmmm...don't Christians also do that? Tell people how to live and the morals they should follow? Hmmm...don't Christians do that? If you don't agree with them you are barbaric? Hmmm...don't Christians feel the same way? Sounds like Al Quaeda and Christians have a lot in common. Those are my thoughts.....*hehehe*

they aren't doing it for religious reasons, it's purely political, just like the barbarians.
