let's say that a person has made the conscious decision to accept Christ into his life but finds it almost impossible to have full and absolute conviction in supernatural events and processes that he cannot see or even feel. Is this person still saved?

If not, what must this person do besides praying in anguish constantly in order to get saved? Or is this person simply not one of God's "chosen people" and is completely hopeless?

I used to be Christian, that's why I point out the flaws. The world has a lot more colors than black and white.

I hear "Oh, well, we don't fly planes into buildings. Only Muslims do that." Of course, if you look at what your religion was doing when it was about 1400 years old (same as Islam is right now), it's not too flattering either.

Maybe believing in false gods (and they all are false) tied to the promise of immortality (what human could keep a promise like that in perspective, really) is just plain dangerous to the human race.

Science says we are genetically related. If you trust the paternity test on Montel, then you trust genetic science.

The Bible doesn't say we're NOT genetically related, it just says God made everything. The only place in the Bible that disagrees with evolution is Genesis, and in Genesis it also says that God made everything in 6 days which is completely make-believe, you have to know...

So why in the world would a grown-up believe in that PART of that one zany story instead of believing their own eyes?

Is it just ego?

The question of Christmas Trees and its relationship with Jeremiah 10:2-5, 2Thus says the LORD,
"Do not learn the way of the nations,
And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens
Although the nations are terrified by them;
3For the customs of the peoples are delusion;
Because it is wood cut from the forest,
The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
4"They decorate it with silver and with gold;
They fasten it with nails and with hammers
So that it will not totter.
5"Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field are they,
And they cannot speak;
They must be carried,
Because they cannot walk!
Do not fear them,
For they can do no harm,
Nor can they do any good."
Anyone who can comment why this is a Christmas Tree please do so. Are our Christmas Trees hand-crafted, are they carried? Do we fasten gold and silver with nails?

Do any other atheists fancy setting up a book of the month club? I suspect the choices will be a bit naff: Mills and Boon, L Ron Hubbard, etc. Still, it'd help pass eternity.

Any recommendations for the Infernal Reading Society?

should we end all our answers with
"our dark Vatican masters command it"?

because i'm told that we apparently are ordered around by them, so we might as well acknowledge it...

other suggestions:
"my worship statue would agree"
"my conjuring of spirits something or other"
"Mary!"
"crucifix!"
"something in Latin!"

or perhaps

"my pagan religion that somehow stole from other religions that were long gone by this time, mixed with other religions that were long gone, transposed over the religion we claim to follow, would agree with me"

any other suggestions would be great. comments?
