I hear "Oh, well, we don't fly planes into buildings. Only Muslims do that." Of course, if you look at what your religion was doing when it was about 1400 years old (same as Islam is right now), it's not too flattering either.

Maybe believing in false gods (and they all are false) tied to the promise of immortality (what human could keep a promise like that in perspective, really) is just plain dangerous to the human race.

Good point, but trying to convince people who at the point where they are willing to kill for their "god" is a little futile.

It's like trying to convince an atheist that a good, kind loving God can lead otherwise indifferent individuals to acts of generosity, kindness and compassion.

Murder is no part of Islam or Christianity.

Pot calling the kettle black, exactly what you are doing!

How about history 101AAA; of course you aren't going to mention: the murderous histories of Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Ceausescu, Hoxha, Kim Jong-il, etc. ?

look what your religion (Atheism) has done, not too flattering.

No need to blame anyone, just get over it and start thinking about what comes next.

What's in the past will not change all of the future.

Rationality seems to me that in order to state all gods are false would require an omniscient knowledge of the universe, in other words, a God.

I don't think it's believing in false gods that's the problem. I think it's the "I'm right and you're wrong so I need to kill you" mindset that's dangerous.
