What are the alternatives to arguement? What not settle things another way?

I would like to think an intellegent discussion could take the place of an argument. A well conducted debate could then follow, if necessary, comprimise being the watchword. Oh, yeah, this is R&S. Think I'll just stay home...

There's nothing wrong with argument, per se. It's how to expose the weaknesses in logic and presentations that allows science to approach truth. Our whole justice system is based on "advocacy" in which two sides argue and a judge or jury can decide which one has the better argument.

Isn't arguing part of the process of reasoning things through? (Don't argue with me now - just agree with everything I say!)

Would you rather we use violence? Without passion, life would not be worth it.
