It seems religious people are happy because they have something to believe in and atheists are angry and mean because they don't? What gives?

The Freedom From Religion Foundation claims to want to enforce a separation of religion and state, so why is it trying to push atheism as the new religion? Their website looks a lot like a church website with people playing guitars, books to read, weekly meeting groups in large halls etc.

This is a question to those believe in life after death. I'm personnaly Christian but Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Wiccan, Buddhist, all are free to answer. To the atheists and people who don't believe in such things, I respectfully ask you not to reply. Not because your opinion doesn't matter...it's just not what I'm trying to get.

My mother died when I was 12. I'm 19 now. Do you think she remembers me? Do you think she can see me wherever she's at? Do you think that I'm still a part of her, and she's a part of me?

Do you think she'll be there when I get married and have my own children?

Thank you.

Hello. I am an atheist and I consider that the non-belief in any deity is not incompatible with some kind of spirituality.

Because I think that what is called "spirituality" is not necessarily dependent on the concept of "deity".

As an atheist, how do you perceive the concept of "spirit"? (hence "spirituality")

Is "atheistic spirituality" an oxymoron? Please explain.

Unless you use another concept instead of "spirituality".

We need to keep in mind that the shooter’s religious affiliation hasn’t yet been disclosed.

If you remember the New Life Colorado Church was in the news some time ago. Ted Haggard, the pastor, was forced to step down after admitting to sexual immorality and purchasing of methamphetamines from a homosexual escort. There's one think I know about members of church congregations, nothing makes them angrier than drugs, sexual immorality, deception and the misallocation of funds. It's unfortunate but in the US, in the case of church shootings and church violence, the offender is often a frustrated member of the congregation itself or an enraged self-proclaimed Christian.

Don’t misunderstand me, if it was done out of spite or an innate hatred for Christianity as a whole, I think they deserve death penalty. Period. No question. That’s unacceptable malicious bigotry. But I also think we need to consider that it might NOT be an act of religious persecution.

What do you think?

I think it is a retarded religion, but what gives the german government the right to ban it, as they are currently trying to do? That goes against basic human rights.

If God did not punish sinners why woould they of ever tried to change thier eveil ways?

How can you know/ how to learn and be good if you are not punished?

Jesus paid the ultimate punishment for mankind so we did not have to die in vain isn't that the most loving thing GOD has done? I think so...

Jesus Christ is to known to Jews, Christians and Muslims as a Man who came to earth to save humanity even though many Jews thisnk Jesus was a Decent Jewish Man, Muslims think he was one of GOD's prophets and Christians believe he is the only Son of the one true Living GOD the Saviour of Mankind.

However many Indian Cultures and ancient people that had pagan rituals of worship speak of a bearded man a GOD Man

My question is do you think many people could be worshipping Jesus Christ in Pagan Cultures, even though they don't understand the Jesus that came through the Jews and is in the Holy Scriptures?

Anybody else recognize the inherent problem here? THAT is not a god of goodness or benevolence. It is a god of revenge.
And does anything else other than something of pure goodness and benevolence warrant worship?

Ok, I know that churches don't have to pay things like property taxes on their land. I'm not sure what the laws are on other places of worship of differing religions but.... going on the assumption that places of worship can render their lands property tax free, If I were to turn part of my house into a place of Pagan worship, could I in fact take that area out of my property tax legally? Anyone know?

exactly what does that make everyone else? I mean wiccan kids can't wear thier pents to school, gays can't marry, several on these boards think atheist shouldn't be allowed to have a winter holiday and atheist aren't allowed to hold office in several states. Christians are 80% of the population. So if THEY are persecuted....what does that make the people the Christians are persecuting?

"...A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet," (Joseph Smith, HC, vol. 6:408-409).

I think they are. While we are able to make our own choices, think for ourselves and are responsible for our own actions without having to answer to an imaginary friend....christians are jealous because they are simply not able to do that and therefore hate us.
