Believe it or not all of us are trying to get rid of pain and suffering - through spiritualism or materialism. Most of us are at a position where we can neither accept nor reject God or concept of God. How do we get answers to basic fundamental questions such as Who is God? Is God a mere concept for physically and mentally weak people? Why so many miseries in the life? What is the purpose of this life? Why death? What is death? What after death? Why is God so imperfect? Why God is creating problems for all of us? What is the source of this universe and who has made the Nature? Is everything pre-destined? What is the role of free-will? What is religion and rituals? Every religious man has their own conviction, then who is right and who is wrong? What is the definition of right and wrong? Why blood-shed on the name of religion? How do we meditate and get peace?

And most vital question is - who is asking all these questions? Who am I? What is my true nature? What is my origin and the final destination?

In order to get the answers to these valid questions, one has to step out of own material self and start contemplating upon these questions. And spiritulism helps us to understand all the questions and get rid of pain and sufferings!

Spirituality is, in an of itself, a pursuit of knowledge. I believe it should be taught as indescriminately as science and math. It is another side to our consciousness, as humans, to want to know more. Why should spirituality or religion be excluded? I had a philosophy teacher that objectively taught the concepts of truth, justice, the different religious concepts, etc. It was an atmosphere of pure learning. We gathered knowledge, discussed, debated and decided for ourselves whether we believed or did not. That's the way it should be.

Why should we pursue spirituality or religion? For the sake of wisdom and understanding people different than ourselves. For the sake of the knowledge that will be lost if we don't.

Its called the slippery slope. In many states gays are not allowed to marry. Bush has said that an atheist cannot be a patriot. If fundies continue along those lines then research into what they don't happen to like will create another Galileo. A scientist believing in god MAY not impede scientific knowledge, but a politician believing in god has done so many times in the past and probably will in the future.

Every creature aspire to be happy. Every one has a right to be happy. All our actions are an attempt to make us happy. The pursuit of knowledge too is aimed at achieving happiness.Spiritual life means something much more than material life.Material life means eating, sleeping, mating and defending for self protection.Animals too follow the same way of living. Hence our material life is on par with animal life.In spiritual life, we become inquisitive to know what we are and why we have been put into the miseries of birth, disease, old age and death. Is there any remedy ?That is human life or say spiritual life. The happiness that you experience in spiritual life or religious life cannot be described in words, you have to experience it your self, if you are inclined to do so.

According to Gita that Jnana is on the path to bhakti. So those seeking spiritual knowledge (knowledge to try to realize the Absolute Truth) is the only knowledge that is worth attaining. IF one does not come to the Absolute Truth through their seeking knowledge then it is a wast of time. Best to take up Bhakti and override all these attempts and quickly come to the Absolute Truth. Bhakti is higher than Jnana. Knowledge is atuomatically attained when one is in Bhakti.

The need is the 'call of the soul'. The soul is a traveller who is travelling in an unknown vehicle, which is the body. It is the duty of the vehicle driver(us) to send the traveller(soul) to the right destination, which is to free it from the vicious cycle of birth and rebirth.

Fail if you have to, ten, hundred, thousand times. But don't give up till you succeed!

Knowledge is power so we all seek knowledge to be aware of inner strength so that we can live as capable being and defend ourselves. Man is weakest of nature's creation but is ruling the universe. It is because of knowledge which imparts strength to man to use his energy for self and for universe also. Knowledge if not put to practice becomes a waste. So it is for self empowerment as well as for service to humanity so that we can make this world a better place. It is prerogative of human beings only to do so.

Well the ultimate pursuit of knowledge deals with SELF. All knowledge is ultimately directed towards the pursuit to KNOW THY SELF. All knowledge is self knowledge and it is important to know what can be known about the human condition, about the laws of this world, and etc, and come about the reality of what you are, so you can know from whence you came and how you must go. It is necessary because you dwell in deficiency in regards self, you dwell in ignorance which is a sort of poverty by the emptiness that it is. Knowledge is that which fills and rectifies the deficiency. Wat drives man to knowledge is the need to Know Thy Self, ultimately. Religions are philosophies lived, they are necessary in order to attain a goal, since it is a practice and application of it suffices its results. As you can't receive any greater Truth then that which you are willing to live in all phases of your life and self, in this you create movement towards expansion of mind and transformation, all for the ultimate goal of knowing thy self. This is development.

Remember all knowledge is ultimately about Self. Even if we engage in sharing of perspective; it's all a process of expansion of mind, which serves the point of knowing thy self, as an aspect of knowing thyself is through others. Ultimately the objective is to become your Authentic Self, as the knowledge you gain you apply it and it has the power to transform your nature. Knowledge is important because it brings opportunity towards change, so you can become harmoniously that very ideal which transcends this world. Gnosis is vital since it is salvific, it teaches you concerning yourself, and yourself in relation to all things. There are different kinds of knowledge that serve the same goal, to become perfect/complete in our development. Experiential Knowledge, Gnosis, and etc...

In short knowledge is salvific, as it gives you the capacity to become your ideal, filing the deficiency that exist in your way to becoming what is sought after.

I have studied various religious philosophies. What I have taken away from them is the wisdom that lies in the philosophy itself, and not some belief in an archetypal God figure.
