Anybody else recognize the inherent problem here? THAT is not a god of goodness or benevolence. It is a god of revenge.
And does anything else other than something of pure goodness and benevolence warrant worship?

God set the law. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. The animal sacrifices were to cover man's sins. The sacrifice that Jesus made was to take away the sins of all, once and forever. God asks that you believe that He sent His Son to die on Calvary's Cross for you and for me.
The Old Testament calls Christ a Branch that God would send. God said it pleased Him to bruise Jesus for us so we could reconnect and receive eternal life once again. This is great love for you and me. What you fail to realize is that God cannot be limited. When you see Jesus you see God and this is the only way to see God, because God is Spirit and consuming fire. The Holy Spirit and the Son Jesus have always been in God. God's ways are too high for you to understand. God does say the vengeance is His and the Word of God teaches that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Your Creator warrants worship because without Him you are nothing!!!

When you put it that way, of course it sounds bad. However, that is not a correct statement. The true statement is that God required the shedding of blood for the remission (forgiveness) of sins. It was all by design and until you research and look for the truth with that open mind that you probably believe you have you will never truly understand God or his ways. Now the death of Jesus was more about God showing and proving his love for us then it was about a way to forgive us of our sins or as you state to stop hating us. Now it seems to me a God (study the trinity to understand this part) that would be willing to be tortured, shamed and mocked by the people that he loved just to forgive them shows great love and mercy and nothing but pure love. God sent his son to die for our sins, So he could be compassionate about us. If you remember in the old test. He was very good at getting angry at us for not following his laws, but he was so loving that he sent his son (so he could understand us) and by losing his son and can be compassionate and empathetic towards us.

But his son was perfect, He was also a human and free will did apply to him as well. Jesus made his choice to fulfill his destiny and do what his father asked of him. He did what he was suppose to do because he was perfect.

We are not perfect, which is why we dont do what we are suppose to do (otherwise known as mistakes) but God does understand, He didn't make us perfect because we could go both ways--follow him or turn completely against him, but by being perfect we then can be held accountable and we could not be forgiven.

I've got some news for you... you don't get to define who God is. It's as absurd as a piece of pottery judging the potter. You're trying to use your very limited and finite understanding in order to comprehend an infinite God.

Here's the reason for Christians to worship...

God himself has caused us to realize that we are sinners, and that we are helpless and powerless in avoiding an eternal destination of torment in Hell. BUT, he has given us the faith to believe in His Son Jesus who became a sacrifice for His people (all believers). God's Holy Spirit indwells all true believers for the rest of their lives and they are miraculously changed. The peace, love and joy that we feel as a result is beyond description, and instead of going to the Hell we deserve---God promises us Heaven. Until you experience this, you'll never have a true understanding of God, nor will you have cause to worship Him.

Those that adhere to any particular religion are its slaves - they are not free.

The purpose of Religious Education is to make us FREE.

Jesus lay down his life, that He may 'take it up again. Herein is a great mystery of Christianity.

This allegory means that the I AM (Jesus) was eliminated from consciousness by the ruling powers (the selfish ego) - but the selfish ego can not reamin in power because it separates itself from God; the giver of Life.

When people value LIFE more than any created thing, they will awaken from the sleep that leads to death and shall understand the scriptures and use them to heal themselves and one another.

Jn 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

The ego is blind, sick, deaf and dumb. When one starts the process of overcoming the ego, they are crossing out the selfish aspects of personality - this is the symbol of the crucifixion.

AFTER the crucifixion the mind is illumined by the Light and Power of God - i.e. Christ rises from the dead to die no more.

NOTHING other that PURE goodness is worthy of our 'worship.' Spot ON.

Peace is the result of waking up:

"Awake thou that sleepest and the Light of Christ shall shine from within Thee."

God asked Jesus to take the cross as a symbol of God's love for the world. It was very difficult for both of them to do.

The good news is Jesus was raised from the dead and he lives now!

Back then, miracles like the Crucifixion and assention had to be done to prove that Jesus was the son of God. Today, we have faith and the Word.

The people that made up religion based God on what they thought was ok and acceptable, a lot of the values no longer apply so that's why somethings seem crazy to us today, that's the problem with making up a God.

I never really understood these parts myself.

-How can God have a son?
-Why would you need to "sacrifice" your son to forgive sins of other people?
-If God is all powerful then why would he allow sins?
-Why's God so desparate for acceptance?(You don't accept him, you go straight to hell)

No, I don't think if there were a god he'd want to be worshiped, he shouldn't be that vain.

Jesus gave His life because He loved us first, not because He hated us- the nails could not have kept Jesus on the cross- it was His love for us- YES ALL OF US- even if you choose not to believe it- He is pure goodness that is why He was a perfect sacrifice for us.

God never required the murder of His Son. The Son came specifically to die for the sins of the world...no one KILLED HIM. The Bible says He gave His life willingly. Big difference.

Since God is God and we are NOT, we have trouble realizing that "without the shedding of blood there IS no forgiveness". God set about to come to the earth HIMSELF to pay for the sins of the World. And you are complaining?????

He paid a debt He did not owe for YOU who had a debt you could not pay. Thats LOVE, not revenge. Thats GRACE, not mean and unkind.

You have chosen to see God as something He is NOT. That is your choice. He deserves our worship because He is the CREATOR and we are His "creation" and because He is worthy of all the praise and worship we can muster.

He died for YOUR sins as well, dear one..."the just for the UNjust",....so that YOU could be reconciled to Him. Won't you change your mind (repent) and believe what God says He did and why He did it? He did it out of LOVE for you. He left all of heaven to come to earth as a man and be spit upon, insulted and finally GIVING His life for people just like you and me.

He died for sinners..not for nice people who have no need of a Savior. Please reconsider, as you seem to have alot of bitterness toward a God you dont even understand.

He loves you anyway and offers you forgiveness and the very righteousness of Christ as a GIFT. Will you believe Him? I pray you will.
