It's a little late to change, when you're burning in Hell for eternity... And, other than by other humans, I have not noticed us "unrepenting sinners" having noticably worse lives than the people who actually believe in sin.

No love there. Just punishment.

I don't believe in God, so it's kind of hard to care whether or not your mythological man in the sky punishes sinners or not.

It depends on the parents - some punish their children out of hate, and hundreds of thousands of children are abused every year (sorry to shoot holes in your theory).

Actually, currently, the US is guilty of stealing and harming other nations through its occupation of Iraq and attempts to take all of their oil, so strike two for your 'logic'.

< How can you know/ how to learn and be good if you are not punished?>>

This assumes that in order to live a moral life that you must fear punishment. A non-believer is actually a much more moral person, because the decisions they make aren't based on fear of punishment, or the expectation of a reward. Strike Three.

Your 'God' required his own son to be brutally beaten and killed in order to stop hating us. Not exactly the kind of deity that I want to have anything to do with.

What parent punishes their child eternally though. Me being an imperfect and fallable human know that you do not punish your child forever, that once you hace disciplined them then you show them your love and give your child another chance. Over and over again. If I would not punish my child for eternity and God is supposed to be better than me than how could God punish his children eternally?

God punishes us so we can learn our lesson, but his punishments aren't torture.

In the old test. things were different and people were punished. However in God's view, They were coming to him. To a perfect place. Thats actually not so bad.

Since Jesus died for our sins, God doesn't punish us by anything other then our minds. He punishes us in our minds.

People do what people do, They have free will and choices. People make choices to kill other people. God does not stop that because he can not interfere with free will. NO ONE'S. not even the murderers free will. However, we can go to heaven, A place that is so perfect and there is no pain or sadness.

Thats actaully not a bad deal if you think about it

why would a being of infinite love and infinite patience and infinite forgiveness EVER punish ANYONE for ANYTHING?

there is a fundamental flaw in the sinner/redemption ideology. God only wants you to learn. if you dont learn, it will only take you longer to learn. there is no punishment for it. it only takes you longer to return to the source. I cannot imagine a God who is all powerful and all loving but wishes pain and suffering on any of his creations. it just doesnt fit.

EDIT: i hardly think the most loving thing God has done was to kill himself. what a horrible thought...

That is different...

When a child is punished, its to prevent them from acting that way again..

From what I understand, sinners are punished when its too late to do anything about it. Kinda like an inmate on deathrow.

As with everything else in this day & age-- they think if there are consequences for wrong doing-- that you have violated "their" rights..
Evil today is everywhere --there is no break- and as long as the masses are following satan-- it is only going to get worse.
