Last Ent, stop making me out to be some sort of extremist who tramples on the first ammendment as if it were an insignificant ant. I just think , at and in MY home, my right to privacy, and the pursuit of life, liberty and happyness, should take priority over some schmucks "right to knock on my door to sell his god/soap/magazine/blahblah........

Property and privacy rights are inherently tenuous because they aren't spelled out all the time. Talking to strangers is not a violation of privacy, but you have the right to refuse anyone access to your property unless you have given up certain rights in an agreement such as a neighborhood association membership. Our neighborhood has a rule against solicitation, but this does not stop evangelizing because they are not selling a good or service.
So we simply tell them we're not interested and would they please move along. We're Christian, by the way. If this still just burns you up, you can always reply with, "Jesus told me to tell you ________" and fill in the blank with the humerous atheist slam of the day.

I assume you have 'no soliciting' signs?
It isn't considered tresspassing if you have a walkway from the public area to your front door. Remove the walkway, or put up a fence if you don't want that invitation extended.

Have you tried putting up a no soliciting sign on your door? If you have one of those up and someone knocks on your door to sell you something or convert you, you can call the cops and have them arrested.

Yeah...I got a shotgun in the closet by the door. Texas has some great property owner rights laws and they get the line pretty fast when they come to my house.
They all seem to skip my house now. Funny how that works.

I think I'm missing something here. If somebody shows up to evangelize you, close the door in their faces. Call their church, mosque, whatever and say "Don't come back." Did somebody say they had a right to come in your house for that?!
Edit--oh, okay. My husband had the same problem when he came home from working his firefighter shifts. It's so annoying when you're trying to sleep. Sorry, I don't have a good solution to that.

Again, a no trespassing sign, a fence, don't answer the door....no one is FORCING you to hear their point of view.
what happened to "your rights end where mine begin?"
EDIT - Okay, let's test that theory. That would mean that logically then, you're in favor of banning the Girl Scouts from knocking on your door as well, right? Or is just religion that offends you so greatly that the mere mention of it warrant a law against it?

one among your questions isn't defined, i.e., "Am I much less of a citizen because of the fact i'm no longer christian?" i'm shocked you does no longer understand. What evidence do you have for this declare: "interestingly their rights are greater desirable, a minimum of in my community." in case you haven't any longer have been given any sign declaring otherwise, in case you've gotten not have been given any situation with your neighbor or affiliate knocking on your door to discover you, then for sure all people else ought to knock on your door. So what do you intend as a answer? A regulation to limit non secular appeals at your door? might desire to that is prolonged to political appeals? might desire to that is prolonged to people soliciting new cable television bills? might desire to that is prolonged to trick-or-treaters? Do you particularly need the regulation to regulate those issues? it would ought to persist with to anybody and may additionally persist with to you. assume you have been robbed or attacked and you lacking transportation or a telephone, went to the closest door to seek for help. might you prefer to be chased off by potential of the police for that? i understand that's no longer from you, yet because of the fact I observed it in an answer i'm responding: taking photos paint balls is a violent reaction and can probable land you in detention center and open to a civil healthy in case you brought about actual injury. offering violence in keeping with non secular appeals is impossible to justify. i might somewhat tell some individual, "i do no longer communicate faith right here" and close the door, or placed up a demonstration to such result, than to ought to bump right into a individual who believed that violence in keeping with this style of element is ideal. You do have a great to place up a demonstration for sure declaring which you do no longer want any non secular appeals directed to you at your place. I even have considered such signs and indications declaring, "we are Roman Catholics and don't desire ..." etc. you're able to make one for your self.

It doesn't. They have no right to come to your property if you ask them not to.
If you haven't asked yet, or otherwise indicated (perhaps with a sign), there is no way for them to know that you do not want them on your property.
Edit -
If they ignore signs, they are trespassing. Call the Police, they are in fact breaking the law.

Wait till they approach your door, then release the hounds!
I find this a far better alternative to hacking them up in my dining room. Getting bloodstains out of my cream carpet is a nightmare.

Post a sign saying "no solicitors" or even more effective "This door is not opened to strangers"
Don't open the door.
