Do other religions provide useful perspectives for understanding ones faith or instead are threats, temptations, and/or abominations?

I`ve met devout bible believing JW`s that disagree with the church`s policy regarding dis-fellowship. I think and correct me if I`m wrong that the practice came from the church and not the faith. How do you feel about the dis-fellowship of fellow church members?

The Bible talks about steering clear of "false religion," and that it will lead most people astray and away from salvation. Could it be that all organized religions may be the "false religion" the Bible speaks of? After all, these religions divide people. They cause fights. They cause people to judge one another. How many people have died in the name of their religion (throughout history?) Could it be that this "road to salvation" is one that steers clear of organized religions altogether? Could the few who resist being seduced by these religions be the few who are actually the ones in the end who are "saved?"

Your thoughts?

Do you know of any verses in the King James Bible that say it is wrong for a Christian to mary a person from another religion ?
I want to remary my long lost love we were very young when we first married and made many mistakes. He is Muslim and I'm Christian.
I recently read in the book of Mathew that it is very wrong and adulterous for a man to mary a divorced woman and that divorce should only happen if there was adultry .
And many other verses that made me feel it was the right thing to work things out.
However I am confused if it is ok in the eyes of God for a Christain woman to mary someone who is not Christian.

My last question was in reference to the JW faith. Allot of people responded by saying that the JW founder twisted the words in the NWT to fit his personal ideology.

Is there any truth to this? Aside from that what are the differences? What do scholars and theologians think about the NWT version?

where exactly in the bible does god the father, not jesus, claim to be perfect? where does it say that it is impossible for him to ever err? perfection implies that not only has god never made a mistake, but that he never will make one. it's one thing to say he was perfect. it's a completely different thing to say that not only has he never made a mistake, but that he never will make a mistake. does god ever make this the claim that he is forever infallible? where exactly is this claim made?

I believe so.

The Precious Life that God gives you to Live, is a story of your existance whilst here on Earth.

What will yours be?

God allows us each to write our own history!

Some of us are constantly seeking some one else to blame for our lives and our choices.

Each of these decisions and choices not only affect us but also affect our families, our future, and our eternity.

But ultimately in God's eyes we are each responsible for our decisions and our choices.

God's greatest gift he gave to man is choice!

At was the whole purpose of the tree in the garden!

We stand or fall upon the choices that we make.

Our choices in life determine what we will be remembered for afterwards!

consider that you have very strong beliefs and the other persons beliefs and religion are even stronger .
Both my religion and his teach that any other way is hell so then I must believe he is doomed and he must believe I am doomed as well.
How can a husband and wife live a happy life here on earth knowing the other is doomed unless you can change there belief ?

Meaning a saying or philosophy that involves God, Heaven, Hell, the apocalypse/end times, etc.

You can't pick something like "Blessed are the peacemakers" because "they will be called children of god".

You can't pick anything that's about the Kingdom of Heaven.

You can't pick anything that's an allegory for something like say the parable of the mustard seed, which is an allegory for faith and stuff - unless it is brilliant outside a super natural context.

To an atheist, is Jesus a useful philosopher, or everything he says predicated upon God and the supernatural?

I say Jesus doesn't have much wisdom to share, unless you believe in Heaven and Hell.

God promises Abram and his descendants all of the land of Canaan. But both history and the bible (Acts 7:5 and Heb.11:13) show that God's promise to Abram was not fulfilled. 13:15, 15:18, 17:8, 28:13-14

God promises to bring Jacob safely back from Egypt, but Jacob dies in Egypt (Gen.47:28-29) 46:3

Contrary to the prophecy in 48:21, Joseph died in Egypt, not Israel. Gen.50:24

God promises to cast out many nations including the Canaanites and the Jebusites. But he was unable to fulfill his promise. 33:2

Shouldn't god of all beings keep his promises?

In the myth where Satan leaves Heaven, how do you think the story would have changed had Lord of the Gods been overthrown?

What about the Adam myth, if the man and woman had become immortal and therefore gods also?

What about the Babel myth, if mankind had built a tower to Heaven and thereby realized they could do anything, even challenge the gods?

How would the myth differ had the Lord of the Gods not taken action to prevent his overthrow in these cases?

I was speaking to my mother a few weeks ago about religion, and I questioned if she ever read the bible. She answered that she had not. I started telling her some of the stories I have read and telling her as a Christian she should atleast read the Bible as it is important to Christians.

I asked her if she believed Jesus was her savior and she answered yes, I then asked her if she repented to Jesus and the entire concept was new to her..

It is weird, because I don't believe in God and I was trying to explain the doctrine to her.. What do you think?

I think they are crazy and give christianity a bad rap. I watch them every once in awhile. Evangilists in general selling things such as holly water claiming to cure. I mean come on, what a crock, and it angers me that they take advantage of vunerable people.
