I was speaking to my mother a few weeks ago about religion, and I questioned if she ever read the bible. She answered that she had not. I started telling her some of the stories I have read and telling her as a Christian she should atleast read the Bible as it is important to Christians.

I asked her if she believed Jesus was her savior and she answered yes, I then asked her if she repented to Jesus and the entire concept was new to her..

It is weird, because I don't believe in God and I was trying to explain the doctrine to her.. What do you think?

I mean, how can you know who Jesus is if you have never read the Bible, nor had very many conversations about it. As far as she was concerned, you don't need to accept Jesus to be saved. I respect her beliefs, but was trying to show her how they might differ from other Christians.

This is a very difficult question to be sure. However there are a few references from scripture that may be instructional:

Psalms 19:
1 For the choir director: A psalm of David. The heavens tell of the glory of God. The skies display his marvelous craftsmanship. 2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3 They speak without a sound or a word; their voice is silent in the skies; 4 yet their message has gone out to all the earth, and their words to all the world. The sun lives in the heavens where God placed it. (NLT)

Second:
Romans 1:
19 For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts. 20 From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God. (NLT)

So it is possible from scripture to know God without the written word.

I believe God, being just, will hold us accountable for what we know. This is just my personal opinion.

You cannot come to a full relationship as scripture is God's method of speaking to his people.

BTW: You continue to impress me with your sincerity in your search!

Many people think that they are saved and have never gone through the NEW BIRTH nor Salvation.

Yes, to the not having read the Bible part though. One can be saved without actually reading the Bible. Throughout the Book of Acts people were saved just by hearing The Word SPOKEN. So they reeally did not read it. Even Jesus prayed a prayer for those that would believe on Him through the Word of the disciples (John 17:20-26). So somewhere along the way she probably heard but may not remember. Also you can not really accept the fact of a 'savior' w/o the act of 'repentance'. not saying she is a "liar" or nothing like that but more of just not understanding. I dunno'.

As far as reading The Bible AFTER ones salvation? It really should be a must. How do you get to know more about something if you do not read or get involved? Jesus is The Word In The Flesh. To get to know your Bible is to get to know HIM!

Hope that helps ya' a bit, God Bless you and lead YOU to His Truth.

No that's not, by using fact if it have been, the entire faith falls aside by using fact Jesus turns right into an insignificant guy, and none yet a desirable sacrifice might want for use for the forgiveness of sins. So no, that's not a risk for that to be authentic and their nevertheless be any ability or desire in christianity. in short, IF Jesus Christ did not die on the bypass AND upward thrust back from the ineffective, then in accordance to the christian faith all christians everywhere are following a pretend faith and are doomed to hell. by using fact there's no forgiveness exterior of Jesus, the son of god, the desirable sacrifice who had no sin in besides, dieing on the bypass and extending back from the ineffective. that's the very key stone of the religion, that's what the religion hangs onto, devoid of it, there's no christian faith by using fact no different individual ever had no sin different than the son of god. Ah, certainly you're desirable, and that's the place the trinity is attainable in. In John, it says, Jesus is the be conscious, and the be conscious became made flesh. It additionally says that this be conscious that Jesus is, became the two with God and God interior the initiating. additionally in genesis God talks to himself announcing "shall we" make guy in "our" photograph, as a consequence added solidifying the perception that God is a minimum of two and one on the comparable time. notwithstanding the Holy Spirit is likewise there so that's believed that God is 3 and one on the comparable time. The be conscious element of God is what got here all the way down to earth to stay between us, we knew him as Jesus Christ. that's what maximum christians have faith, and how the divinity of Jesus is defined. it is concern is unquestionably coated by ability of the christian bible and is going to be very annoying to argue in any different case devoid of utilising mere opinion.

People tend to overlook the fact that Jesus talked about the Spirit, and said that God is Spirit ( John 4 ).

It's the baptism that Jesus talked about in John 3 that was the Baptism which set apart those who are of the world and those who are of the Spirit. His children are those who God loves, and those He chose out of the world.

It may be good that you talked to your mom about reading the Bible. She may want to because it sounds like the Spirit of God is moving in the both of you. You cannot want to know God on your own, you have to be influenced by the will of the Father in order to do that ( John 6 ) .

There is a movie that I think you might want to see. It's called "The Gospel of John". The movie is out there, readily available. Watch it with your mom if you have time, I think that you both will get something out of it.

Yes, many have come to Christ who never read the Bible, my Grandfather couldn't read, the Bible or any other book but he loved God and I know he is in Heaven now.
He was the gentlest human being I have ever met, and he showed his faith in his behavior.
