This is a very good question. The answer isn't going to be spelled out to you by people responding to this website. The answer will be simply confined to what you believe in your heart and soul. Other people will tell you that they know who is right or wrong, but it is ultimately up to you to decide whether or not the bible is accurate. It requires an immense amount of belief that there is a God who created the universe, and also created the human race to be in his image. But, he also created us with flaws that allow free will. So, If you think Satan is of ultimate evil and the "king of lies", then you would think that Adam and Eve were tricked into doing what happened that resulted in our current status. But, if you believe the bible, then Adam and Eve were destined to remain in the Garden. So, what do you believe? If Satan always lies then the book of Genesis would be so different that we would have no recognition of the current story. This is a good question; it forces us to look into what our personal beliefs are, and how to compare the compromises of what we believe. Like all questions, there is an answer, but, for this question, it will be the last question we answer.

Perhaps he would claim that God made Adam and Eve to be like pets because he was too insecure to create humans fully sentient. He wanted them to depend on him for guidance rather than asking themselves, "Does that seem right?" So really, Satan liberated the humans by convincing them to eat the fruit so they could be more than they were originally intended to be.

Edited to add: If my hazy memory serves me correctly, Carl Jung had this theory that the devil was another part of God's personality, which almost made sense to me at the time.

If Satan wrote a book and claimed he was the good guy it would be called the Quran.

Start with Abraham and no need to change Adam and Eve.
