I mean, was everyone going straight to hell before or did we just "die". And if there was no hell before Jesus died, was hell created at the same time he died? Were we simply "seperated" from God before or did we just all go to hell?

NOW as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
Jhn 9:2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
Jhn 9:3 Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

Do you think that religious diversity would be any different if the largest historical empire rose out of, say, South America? Or just an entirely different culture?

Or do you think christianity would have eventually become the most popular religion anyway? But if not for the Roman Empire, would modern day christianity in this alternate universe be anything like what is practiced now?

I'd like to know more about your denomination--not the party line from pamphlets or web sites, but what it's like to be Lutheran. All I know is what I hear from Garrison Keillor. Anyone care to share?

God the Son Jesus Christ says that "anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of Hell.” (Mat 5:22b) But Saint Paul can care less! He keeps calling them, “O foolish Galatians!” (Gal 3:1, 3 and so on) all the time. Why this double standard? Is it because the Galatians are skeptical about what to believe that the name calling is justifiable?

One of my favorite plays/movies is Inherit The Wind in which a man is put on trial for teaching evolution in an community that has found it unlawful to teach anything that goes against divine creation. Of course the prosecution has an absolute christian on their side and the defense has somewhat of an agnostic
on their side. But anyway the prosecution's front man dies in the end and the agnostic at the very end takes the bible and Darwin's origin of species and puts them together and walks out of the court room. Of course symbolizing that both could possibly coexist. So what I wanna know is it could it actually happen where evolution and creationism could coexist in the real world. Please do not talk about the validity of the movie I do know the back story of it. I am asking about the philosophy of the matter.

Ok I'm Catholic but I don't watch the Catholic Channel (EWTN) and I heard from one of our Jewish friends that her Catholic friend was freaking out over something the Pope had recently said about Purgatory or something. Did he say anything and if so what did he say?

1) Please state your religious/philosophical orientation.
2) Rank the statements below (A through C) from most true to least true (In you opinion of course).
3) Make any pertinent comments.

A) As religions become more syncratic and pluralistic they become more valuable to humanity and civilization.
B) Syncretism and pluralism undermine and destroy “true” religion and lessen its value to humanity.
C) Religion has no positive value to humanity whatsoever.

Syncretism consists of the attempt to reconcile disparate or contradictory beliefs, often while melding practices of various schools of thought.

Religious Pluralism describes the worldview that one's religion is not the sole and exclusive source of truth, and thus recognizes that some level of truth and value exists in at least some other religions.
