I think you need to use the function when you ask a question that shows you it has been asked at least 1000 times in the last week.

The Mayan calendar does not predict that the world will end in 2012. They have prophecies for dates thousands of years later. That would obviously not be the case if they thought the world was going to end 5 years from now.

The "2012 Apocalypse" scenario is a creation of modern times, not Mayan ones. A careful study of Mayan and other Native American societies shows that they viewed 2012 in much the same way that many people today view January 1st. The calendar rolls over, people hope for a new beginning, and they make promises for how they will become better people in the new period than they were in the old.

None of that is prophecy and it certainly doesn't predict the end of the world.

The world is not ending in 2012... actually, it is supposed to enter a new beginning... the official beginning of the "new age"... or the "age of aquarius". This process started back in the 1960s. It takes like 50 years for the real energy of an "age" to kick in after it begins entry.

The reason people consider it an "ending" is that the old systems are breaking down... everything... the money system, the economy, the governments, standardized religions... anything that is not sustainable is currently going downhill fast. Check the news if you don't believe me.

2012 is the closest year calculated by the Mayan calendar... but the truth is, since there have been so many restarts of the Gregorian calendar that we currently use, we could be closer to 2012 than we realize.

Actually I do believe people have gotten it wrong.I have been fascinated with this subject along time. The prophecy does not actually predict the end of the world, but the end of an age or time and I do believe something big or bad will happen at that time or close to it.What it is or how it will happen I don't know. But it is interesting is it not?

More important that that year as a whole is this day.

Blessed are you who comes to the 1335 day Daniel CH. 12

Pray to understand.

The world will never be the same in a suprise day in this generation.

I will say this much the head archangel has his sword drawn with a smile. Daniel ch 12:1

I think it's just another example in long list of people/s who have attempted to predict the end of the world and were wrong...

It's nonsense. Only God knows when the world will end because He is the one that will destroy it one day. NO man can predict the end of the world no more than he can predict what will happen tomorrow or the next day.

well the other thing came true...being invaded by white men with beards...I don't think it happened when they said it was going to happen though...the mayans were very spiritually powerful. and their residual energy still lingers around the ruins.
