There is an inherent conflict between the Theory of Evolution (evolution as the mechanism for the beginning of all life and the diversity of life) and God's word.
God explicitly says that He created the world and everything in it. (Ex 20:8-11). Remember, this is the ten commandments written on the tablets of stone by God's own hand.
These cannot both be true. If one believes in Evolution as the beginning of things then one is calling God a liar.
The question then becomes, "does calling God a liar have any relevance?" and "If you don't believe God, are you really a Christian?"

I know a great many Christians who accept the truth of evolution without having any crisis of faith. Most rational people find no conflict between the two concepts. But for those who choose to disbelieve evolution, I would have to say that their Christianity was relevant to that choice. It stems from some false doctrines that are forced onto them by the church. Like the Bible being the direct word of God , rather than the work of more than 40 human authors. Then when people believe that every word in the Bible was written by God instead of man, and God is infallible, then whatever is in the bible must be true. But since their whole basis of logic was based on a false assumption, that argument has no merit. But hundreds of years of church tradition has supplanted logic and reason for many. So they reject science even when the evidence is clear and overwhelming. In their minds admitting that science was right would be admitting that God was wrong, instead of one passage in a book written by a man about God being wrong. And if God can be wrong then he is not perfect, and therefore does not exist. So the whole basis of their faith would dissolve just because they are holding onto a false assumption.

how can anybody believe or not believe in evolution? Evolution is a fact. You can either accept that its a fact or you can stupidly and ignorantly ignore it for no apparent reason. there is no such thing as belief or disbelief in evolution b/c it's FACT. Actually, evolution is really even better than fact, it's a scientific theory.

when i was a child in elementary school i denied evolution. which was back in 1968 or sooner.
it was illogical.
the body and brain and creation of creatures in it's balance on the earth enviroment is too perfect..to be an accidental creation..and why did accidental creation stop?
becuae it never existed.
we have car accident..nothing is created but destruciton!!
anyway..where are the talking chimp or apes?.where are their writing?? cause it never existed.
where are the red headed chimp and blonded headed chimp?

It does for some. My parents were both accepting of evolution, and Christians. My father especially would look at someone like they were an idiot if they said "I'm a six day creationist".

No such thing as a Christian evolutionist - a clear contradiction in terms
We trust God for His clear Word. Let Mother Nature save you. Our Father God will save us!

The ones who "believe" in evolution are at least on the right track.

I don't think it does. I know plenty of scientists of various faiths who are religious people; they just don't see a conflict, and I feel the same way.
