No because hopefully somewhere in this place you will find the guidance you need. I don't think it's hopeless and I don't come here to seek guidance per se. But more to give it if I feel the question is honest. Just today I found out I was the "Thumbs Up Fairy". Go figure.

I think there is wisdom to be found in many places. The question is if it is worth the effort to sift through the desert of nonsense found here in search of that elusive grain of wisdom that might be here.
Seriously though, there are better sources of spiritual guidance but someone might get lucky here and some answers are honest and well intentioned and worthy of respect.

Getting opinions isn't pathetic, but believing someone 100% is... a bit misguided, in my opinion. The same could be said about a lot of websites on the internet. People give their opinions and try to pass it off as facts. Some are naive enough to believe it.

If you have no idea where gold is, one of the best ways to find gold is to take sediment from the bottom of a stream and carefully sift through it. You will find a lot of sludge, trash, and sewage, but there may be a few faint glimmers of gold, especially if you are searching in a large enough stream. From there, you work your way back upstream and check the tributaries to see which ones have a richer gold content. If you do this well, you may get rich.

Yahoo! Answers certainly isn't the motherlode, but it does serve as a large stream which can point people in the right direction if they do a good enough job of sifting through the sewage.

does this mean you can direct us to the source to proper guidance concerning "spirituality", or that you are aware of the boundaries of the term pathetic.

nope, a lot of people probably asked a similar question. you can find the answer to anything if you look in the right place. or even the wrong place. what someone takes as a run of the mill sentence, could change your life.

That's not why I'm here. And some who do seek guidance have genuine needs which we can help them with, such as shielding them from blanket fundie answers.

I think most people on both sides of the issue just come here for comic relief...and perhaps a good argument now and then.

I dont think so. Alot of people have legitimate questions that they ask here, and occasionally, very occasionally, they actually get a decent answer rather than being flamed to all oblivion. I think it's more pathetic when people insult actual honest questions rather than either being helpful or just not responding.

Depends. If you want to seek fellow believers of your faith, and see how they got through life, it's cool. But letting others dictate your life is lame-o.
