For example, why wasn't it just left at the 10 commandments? Everybody can understand those. It's clear, simple and to the point with little room for interpretation. There's so much confusion and discord with what's in the Bible - some denominations say this, some say that, others have their own beliefs altogether and nobody really knows who's right outside of their own belief system. (The old "I think I'm right so I'm right and you're wrong" attitude.)

Who else thinks it would have been much simpler to just have a short clear version of the rules v. a huge big book to live by?

I'm a follower of YHVH, God Triune, and I try to conduct myself in a manner that follows biblical tenets and try to witness to that effect.

And since JWs use the Christian label in spite of what it means to most of "Christendom," shouldn't I be able to call myself by their label?

I look at christianitytoday.com and I get Charisma magazine (I won't be renewing this, though), but quite frankly I find a lot of the articles to be surfacy. I wish I could find something a bit more brainy and in depth. Any suggestions?

as is the popular opinion among many fundamentalist christians, you can choose to be gay, i have to wonder then... to those who say this, does this mean you're equally attracted to both men and women? for the men, do you get just as aroused looking at an attractive man as you would looking at an attractive woman, and you're only straight because you choose to be, when being gay would be just as easy for you?

I know Christians have the "Bible Belt" through the south and midwest, but there isn't an "Atheist Belt". So here is the real question, Do Christians need a Bible Belt to keep their rants up?

You say that in order to understand the Bible correctly. That you must be a believer and be filled with the Holy Ghost. How then is it fair to the unbeliever who chooses to read the Bible. How is it that the unbeliever would come to understand your God and your Religion. If one must first have faith and belief? That sounds like an impossibility to me. This is an honest question. I was raised Christian, and i think i came as close as possible to this "Faith" yet when i read the Bible twice I never found this Divine inspiration. Thanks for polite your answers.

They don't follow the teachings of the Bible or even recognize all of it's Scripture. They have doctrines that are not Words of God or the Bible such as purgatory and claiming that they are the Universal Church of Christ. They say they are for God but with popes and recent popes claiming they are the only way to God or self exalting themselves with power over the Church of Christ is an apostasy: an abandonment of what one has professed and departure from faith in God who alone can rectify a sin, not the pope. What do you think??

Did you know that up until 1930, all Protestant denominations agreed with the Catholic Church’s teaching condemning contraception as sinful?

But, at its 1930 Lambeth Conference, the Anglican church, swayed by growing social pressure, announced that contraception would be allowed in some circumstances. Soon the Anglican church completely caved in, allowing contraception across the board. Since then, all other Protestant denominations have followed suit. Today, the Catholic Church alone proclaims the historic Christian position on contraception.

Fortinately, the Pope is not swayed by the modern culture od death and irresponsibility.

Did you know that John Calvin said, "The voluntary spilling of semen outside of intercourse between man and woman is a monstrous thing. Deliberately to withdraw from coitus in order that semen may fall on the ground is doubly monstrous. For this is to extinguish the hope of the race and to kill before he is born the hoped-for offspring."

The reason for asking is that Atheists suggest that Christians think they hate God. I just want to confirm whether or not such people are on this forum.

2007-11-07 08:15:55 · 22 answers · asked by Tommy 5

The Christian religion wouldn't be so hated if some of you people didn't go around prancing about how "this is a sin" and "you're going to hell" and "you are an immoral sinner" all the time.

Aren't you comfortable and confident enough with your faith that you don't need to bring everyone down who doesn't agree with you or follow your religious rules?

I'm okay with religion, so long as people don't start using it as justification of hate and prejudice. I'll give you an example: several groups of Christians at the University of California attempted to sue the school because the school enforced rules against discrimination and harassment of homosexuals, saying that "it infringed on their freedom of religion." In other words, they wanted to be able to discriminated and harass homosexuals without being punished.
