The reason for asking is that Atheists suggest that Christians think they hate God. I just want to confirm whether or not such people are on this forum.

So based on the answers here, when an Atheist asks Christians if they hate Zeus (in the same way Christians think Atheists hate God), the basis of the question is a strawman. The interesting thing is that atheists, who pride themselves on reason, don't bother pointing out each other's fallacies.

I am a Christian who thinks that an atheist is in denial for not believing, but that is their choice- but I do not believe that an atheist hates God- because you cannot hate something that "supposedly" does not exist, can you?

Richard Dawkins (of The God Delusion fame) argued that everyone is an atheist in saying that there is a god - from Ra to Shiva - in which he does NOT believe. All that the serious and objective atheist does is take the the next step and to say there is just one more god to disbelieve in.

Odin, Amon-Re, Baal, Zeus and lots of others. Gods that that held absolute power and were worshiped and believed by millions of people. All theorectically omnipotent, omniscient, and immortal. And all are dead.

I am an Atheist who thinks that Christians don't consider the hateful actions of their God as described in the scripture.

Asking you if you hate Zeus as an example of why we don't hate God isn't setting up a strawman argument, it is highlighting the ridiculous nature of the original claim. Parody is not a strawman.

Being an Atheist has nothing to do with hating God it believing God doesn't exist. I know plenty of Atheists and have never heard them express a hate for God.

Atheists don't hate God because they don't believe God exists; thats's not the same thing as hate

I hope such Christians don't exist.

After all, Atheists don't believe God exist, and how could you hate something that doesn't exist?

... I don't hate God.

How can atheist hate something they dont believe exists? By hating God are they not stating there IS a God to hate? I dont think you will find many atheists that say they hate God.

PS i am not an atheist.

We can't hate something we are very confident doesn't exist. Secondly, the biblical god is clearly the most wrathful and hate filled figure in all of fiction, hands down.

I dont hate God- how could I?? I just think what people associate with God is wrong. I think that the real God is the Sun. Thats what gives us life.
