For example, why wasn't it just left at the 10 commandments? Everybody can understand those. It's clear, simple and to the point with little room for interpretation. There's so much confusion and discord with what's in the Bible - some denominations say this, some say that, others have their own beliefs altogether and nobody really knows who's right outside of their own belief system. (The old "I think I'm right so I'm right and you're wrong" attitude.)

Who else thinks it would have been much simpler to just have a short clear version of the rules v. a huge big book to live by?

mah: that's the point - why not a short easy to understand list as opposed to a whole book of Leviticus?

It states perfectly clearly what is right and wrong, silly. It's RIGHT to sell your daughter into slavery, but WRONG to eat lobster or wear mixed fibers. It's very simple.

i think the reason people don't see the Bible as being clear is because they don't look at it clearly. The Bible isn't some novel...you have to view it in a spiritual way...if you don't have the spirit then you won't understand...denominations have relied to heavily on traditions which is wrong...we should always look to the Bible with the spirit of God for our answers...Lets look at the ten commandments for example...what does it actually mean when it says "Thou shalt not take the Lord God's name in vain" Does that mean saying the words Oh My God! or does it mean this...We as Christians take one Christ's name right? So if someone merely claims to be a Christian, but doesn't truly have the spirit then, they are taking the Lord's name in vain...it's all in the way you look at it. You need to find a good Bible study to help you look at the Bible differently..Hope I've helped..

WE have the 10 commandments, and God has put it in your heart to know when you are doing wrong. And another thing; If you have LOVE for EVERY one, you will due no wrong, love is all you need. The first two commandments is the greatest, Love the LORD thy God with all your heart and all your soul. and 2, Love your neighbor as your self. IF you just obey these two, you would do no wrong.
You have so many false teachers out there; you just have to study the bible your self, and ask God for the understanding. If you have it in four heart, God will see it, and will sent the spirit to give you the understanding, just have the faith in God, He wants His people to have the understanding.
This huge big book, will solve all your problems, jest look it up in the bible, any thing you want to know about life. Its there.

The 10 Commandments were intended for people 3000 years ago who were not as highly evolved as those a thousand years after in Jesus’ time. When Jesus came, he upgraded those simple instructions and the other 600 Mosaic Laws. He simplified them into two – Love God and love your neighbor as yourself. Then he proceeded to clarify and expound on the details, while providing us with his living example that we should emulate.

However, we should not take him at his word. Instead, we should learn by doing them and following his suggestions. He emphasized, “You must be perfect as the Father in heaven is perfect.” Mature adult spirits learn not by being told, but from their own active application of the divine principles.

It's kind of like raising teenagers. You have set rules but there are always aggravating circumstances. Some rules there are no exception to, others you can have a little leeway. God is like a loving parent in that he knows we are not perfect and we are going to make mistakes. The Bible is full of examples and consequences so that we may make our own decisions, but it also contains some rules on which there is no compromise.

the bible itself is an interpretation and statement of the rules of life, everything from crops to relationships are explained in it. ask a farmer why they rotate the crops. ask a couple man and woman why do they get married? life's lessons and rules are explained in it. it goes beyond the ten commandments. the old law was mostly abolished in the new kingdom, start with the gospels; especially focus on john i really like john the most.

There are 3 conflicting versions of the 10 commandments in the Bible, and the set that the Bible calls 'the ten commandments', is not even the set generally referred to by most Christians as 'the 10 commandments'.

The Bible is clear.

Only in the last 100 years of so have men begun to suggest its not.

Jesus shortened the rules to three:

1. Love God

2. Love your neighbor

3. Love your fellow Christian

Many things in the bible is not clear like:
Drinking Alcohol, Jesus drank wine in a wedding party
Adultery, Jesus forgave the adulteress women
Gambling no clear command
Jesus did not want to sound too harsh so he used parables instead of giving commands

Rules are rules. The ten commandments are God's law.
It's salvation that is most important. This is God's imputed righteousness by anyone receiving his Spirit into the heart.Born again by
repenting from sin and serving him.
