The only reason that was written in the bible is because way back when it was written, a main focus of life was keeping the species going. Because it was thousands of years ago they did not have the knowledge of the human body that we do today. They thought that a man had a limited amount of sperm and that if her masturbated he would waste his limited supply and later, would not be able to procreate. Today we know that men never stop producing sperm so the whole no masturbation thing is invalid. And it never held true for females b/c they are not wasting anything that could be used to make life in the process.

When God gave the laws to Moses to give to the Israelites, He was concerned about establishing a new nation. At that time, a man's legacy was his children, and property was passed down to his children after his death. If a man died before he had any children, the law said that his brother had to marry his widow, and any children that widow bore would be the heirs of the deceased brother.
When Onan married his dead brother's wife, he spilled his seed on the ground because he didn't want her to have any children so that he would inherit his brother's property. He sinned because he disobeyed the law about protecting his brother's property and for being selfish. It doesn't have anything to do with killing a child.

Menstruation is not the result of a child at all. An egg has to be fertilized to become a child. When the egg is not fertilized, the body sheds it along with the lining it prepared. You are comparing totally different things, not only from a Christian or atheistic standpoint but a scientific one as well!

It is not religiously wrong for a man to masturbate.
Onan's sin was that he did not do as god told him. That's it. God killed a whole bunch of people for doing stuff he didn't want them to do. Moreover, his spilling his seed was coitus interruptus (look it up) NOT masturbation.
The passing of an unfertilized egg is not the loss of a child.

A man's "seed" will spill whether he masturbates or not. Apparently trying not to overpopulate the earth is a sin.
I suppose a woman's menstration is similar.

No.
The dude who did that in the bible was supposed to have children with his brother's wife. He disobeyed and was whacked. Has nothing to do with killing babies. A seed is not a child.

Just after saying ...
"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." Mat 5:28
Jesus said....
"and if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell." Mat 5:30
Now what do you think he was talking about?

Yes, but menstruation comes accompanied by cramps and the inability to wear the really pretty panties as punishments.
