I would do it to save a child from stubbing a toe.
EDIT.....
Your point is stunningly accurate.
"Our religion is about love and is peaceful, and yes I would allow and entire city full of millions of humans to be destroyed if it meant I could save my eternal soul"

Even if a Christian said it, they wouldn't mean it, so it doesn't matter. When I was a Christian, I wouldn't have denied the Holy Spirit at all, Death on earth is just a path to the next life in Heaven, or in the terrorists case, hell.

Bye bye, New York, It's been nice knowing you. :-(
If someone threatened to push a button to blow up all of New York City unless you denied that you had a mind, and really meant it, would you pretend that you didn't have a mind, and quit using it, or would you allow him to exterminate the city?
Oh - wait - never mind - you aren't using your mind, anyway. Maybe that's why New York hasn't been blown up yet.

What would you do if the terrorist demanded that you become Muslim and mean it? Will you say that Allah is God? Will you pray to a God 5x a day that you don't believe in? Here's a surprise-If it all was on me- why it would be, I don't know, but say it is-- the God I worship would understand why I did it and would forgive me-because it is written, He (poetic license) who saves one for my sake saves the world whole". So, if renouncing God would save hundreds of thousands of millions other Christians, then yes, I'd do it.

Can you deny that you are a human?
Christian conviction is even more powerful.
Your little edit at the end fails to address your own scenario. The terrorist is the one with his finger on the button ... HA back at ya.

A promise to a terrorist is invalid. God believes in covert activity under certain circumstances.
Lie to the sucker ... then try to take him out.

Okay, that's just a stupid question that could never happen. Second, how would he know if I meant it or not? To save a city, I'd probably say anything.

It really wouldn't matter what I did under durress...there was an issue in WWII where people would hide jews from the nazis. When they were questioned they would lie. You only owe the truth to whom it is due. I would have no problem lying about my relationship with God to save lives. Murderers aren't due the truth.
