that they always get thumbs down? We are all allowed our ideas, but when someone states a serious answer, which is a good answer, and gets 8 or 10 thumbs down, don't you think that's kinda wrong? Discuss.

over the beasts??

Eccl 3:20-21 insists that " all go to one place: All are from the dust, and all return to dust. " Hence, " man has no advantage over beasts, for all is vanity." The JWs cite this verse to prove that human beings do not consciously survive death. " Does each human have a spirit that goes on living as an intelligent personality after it ceases to function in the body? No." ( Reasoning from the Scriptures, 1989, 383 )

If you believed in God, do you really think he would condemn someone for something like that?

Really, do you trust the laws of science enough , without ever having done it, that you will have a bad experience if you put your finger in the electric outlet? Here is what I want some willing christian to do. Pray real hard. Pray some more. Then go stick your finger in the electric outlet and let me know if God or Science was correct. I never saw a commandment in the bible "Thou shalt not putteth forth thine own finger unto the electric outlet". So if it's not in the bible, it must be okay to do. Unless......you trust science about this. And if you trust science about this, why not trust it about god?

The JWs claim that the person identified as " wisdom" in Proverbs 8:22-31 is Jesus. Since wisdom is said to be created ( v.24 ), this means Jesus was created being.

" He was very special person because he was created by God before all other things. ...For countless billions of years, before even physical universe was created, Jesus lived as a spirit person in heaven and enjoyed intimate fellowship with his Father, Jehovah God, the Grand Greator. - Proverbs 8:22" ( The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived, 1991,11 )

I think so.
How "under god" was added to the US pledge.
How "under God" is on US money.
How gay marriage is illegal is most US states.
How people think "god says" is a logical argument in a debate.
There are many more reasons. I know the US was never completely free, but when did Christianity start getting pushed on all of us?

I noticed some people think it is wrong to celebrate christmas if you are not religious. So does that mean a white guy couldn't celebrate kwanzaa? Or a mormon couldn't celebrate chanukah? Sure it would be against what they normally do, but who cares? It's a preference.

How is that possible? The bible is VERY black and white about it so how do you get around it in your head? Honestly not trying to bash gays here. I have slept with just about as many men as I have women but... I could never believe in a god that created me the way I am only to call me an abomination.

The reason I ask is that recently I've seen several replies from people, who claim to be members of a certain church group, including one member of the clergy, claiming that they are not sure.

If you claim to be a Christian, why wouldn't you be sure?

By the way, I am sure that if you asked any of the folks who attend the Tuesday night Bible study I attend, they would tell you that they are sure as well. There are ten of us.

Along with your answer please give your denominational affiliation. Thank you!

Drink if you want to. I'm well aware that the question has been asked 327 times. But why does the burden of proof rest on the shoulders of believers? Why quote Dawkins religiously on this?
Yes, if one person says "There's a purple monster in my closet," the burden of proof rests with him to prove it.
But if a majority--indeed billions of people all say there is a God, and a small minority (about 10%) say there isn't, then the burden rests with the 10% to convince the 90%, does it not? Is that not one the very reasons we're here? So why use that illogical reasoning to cast aside a question rather than meeting it head on? Would someone care to illuminate?

I used to work in an office with this person who made it her personal mission to proof read every letter we sent out for typos. Then, instead of quitely editing them, she would make a huge fuss about it and get on us about the poor image we were giving. This was not part of her job, she just took it upon herself to do this and clearly enjoyed pointing out the mistakes of others. Most of us in the office found it extremely annoying.
So one day she had to mail out invitations for this very high class fundraiser we were hosting. They were sent to all these very well-off sponsors of the non-profit we worked for. One of the lines in the invitation was supposed to say "to serve the public interest" but she wrote:
"TO SERVE THE PUBIC INTEREST".

She failed to proof read her own work and mailed them all out like this.

It was around 2:00 a.m. coming home from a hospital. On one side is a Jewish cemetery and the other side is a Catholic one and then the hospital, so no homes for miles, also no hills either. I heard the cry of some animal not coyote, dog,or cat but otherwise, and people coming out of the hospital commented on how strange it was too?

What could it have been? No. Didn't see anything.

It was uneartly and a bit scary.

I'm Gay, a Child of God, a follower of Jesus Christ - rejected and despised by men - gay and straight, religious and unbeliever alike. No one accepts me for who and what I am - except my wonderful BF and my terrific family!!

But can we call a moratorium on all the gay questions please?!? I'm really having trouble understanding all the fascination with my sexual orientation, maybe someone can explain it to me???

Someone made a random statement and put a question mark behind it. I made a similar opposing statement and asked "what's your question?" and got blocked!

I've been blocked a couple of times on the Politics & Government site & understand small minded pettiness in THAT arena.

I'm new to R & S though and thought pepole here might be a little more open and understanding.

Does this happen a lot on R & S?
