what if a person is suffering a mental illness and can't really make proper decisions because they are blinded by their emotions and rage???
Is this what a loving God really wants ???

What makes you so special that you actually believe you are right when you can't prove you are right?

Isn't it the height of arrogance to think that you know best for everyone? Isn't that what all the petty dictators throughout history believe also?

Atheists believe there is no God and (generally) those that believe in God are ignorant yet they only have their beliefs and no real proof that there is no God.

Believers believe in God and (generally) that those that don't are ignorant yet they only have their beliefs and no real proof that there is a God.

Why does most people here try and force their beliefs onto others? Can't you just live in peace and leave others alone in their beliefs?

THIS is what most wars have been fought over. Not religion. It's arrogant people thinking they are the only ones that know the truth and feel the need to force others to believe just as they do.

do you agree or disagree?
Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other sins are invented nonsense. (Hurting yourself is not sinful--just stupid.)

...and, according to Christianity, anyone who follows Jesus goes to heaven, where do Conservatives and Fundamentalists go? What happens to them since they aren't "Christ-Like?"

Zechariah 2:10-12 says, "Cry out loudly and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for here I AM COMING, and I will reside IN THE MIDST OF YOU", is the utterance of Jehovah...And you will have to know that Jehovah of armies himself has sent me to you. And Jehovah will certainly take possession of Judah...and he must yet choose Jerusalem."
If Jesus and Jehovah are not one and the same God, then how do you explain the fact that Christ is the one who is "coming" and "will reside in the midst of you", but in this passage, Jehovah claims that he is the one who is coming and will reside in there midst?
How do you explain the fact that "Jehovah of armies" is sending him (Jehovah) to reside in their midst?

Im am just looking for your understanding of this view, Thank you.

Do you think that if you just got saved, and let Jesus into your heart that God will call you into ministry, but remember you just got saved now.
Example: this woman got sved two weeks ago,and now she's proclaiming to be an Evangalist.

He wanted me to read Matthew, he was pointing to verse 12 or 1:2, I am not sure. Anyway, neither verse is particularly profound, and I am confused? Can anyone here break either verse down to me? What do you think he meant? Also, he showed me a figure of a human? I don't understand, but I believe I saw Jesus in my dream in spirit, so I am taking this seriously.

Thanks for any help.

A belief in God, or a belief in no God? Express whether you like the idea of discussing one aspect, or multiple aspects. I personally like the idea of one, such as something like, "I believe fruit is evidence of order in creation." Instead of, "I believe in God." Or, "I believe in no God." I'd also like to discuss the >implications< of whether my argument, or your argument is more reasonable. Such as if I were be able to reason over you that, "Evidence of order through fruit, is evidence of a creator." This would >imply< there is evidence of God, therefore, it would be reasonable for you to give at least one "similiar in persuasive reason" supporting the existence of no God. This is just an example that holds zero meaning, to gain a clear understanding of what I mean when I say "discuss the implications."

If you are willing to discuss multiple aspects, then you must be willing to refer back to me and respond to everything I say, as I will also do, for a longer period of time.

Every day I'm on the board here, or I hear on TV, or read about, or hear a Christian say one or more of the following (or a close approximation):

1) You cannot know happiness without Jesus/God.
2) You cannot have morals without Jesus/God.
3) You cannot have values without Jesus/God.
4) You cannot truely love without Jesus/God.
5) You cannot live an honest life without Jesus/God.

I just wondered how Christians can possibly know these things about my life when none of them know me well enough to make these assumptions.
Both my wife and I are atheist. We are very happy together. We are honest with one another. We support and love one another. We are faithful to one another.
We have great dreams and aspirations for our future together. We also respect the environment and our neighbors.

And we do all this without the need or acceptance in a god or gods. How can we have such a wonderful life if what you say is true?
Perhaps you don't know any better other people's lives?

cristian believe that Jesus had died and allowed for the shedding of his blood for the sake of granting forgiveness to people. In other words Jesus had died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins
how that when we read in the bible that this is not true

Question: Why is it people still call those that criticize Islam hateful and intolerant? What is so hard about facing the simple truth: Islam is a violent religion.
The holy books of Islam clearly state that its followers are to kill those that don’t believe the same as them.

"Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah." Qur'an:8:39

I always thought that there was an age or something in which you need to decide if you believe in God or not. Is there? I mean a two year old can't really say if they belive in God but a 13 or 14 year old could.
What is your take on this?
Is there a set age?
Does it differ with ever person?
Is it about your mental growth?

Should you not give yourself a particular label until you are ready to live up to it 100%?

Do you think there are hypocrites in all arenas of life, or is it reserved for the religious?

I've often heard various theologians prophesy the coming of the end of the world. Several such deadlines as the 2012 one of the Mayan calendar to Nostradamus' predictions.

A number of these deadlines, however, such as that for the year 2000, have already come and gone with obviously no world-ending consequences. What of these? Did God lie, or did His followers misinterpret Him?
