My friend posted this and it was deleted; now I’m not saying their decision was wrong, and I’m not asking you to either. I just want your opinion; do you think it should be deleted?
Question: Why is it people still call those that criticize Islam hateful and intolerant? What is so hard about facing the simple truth: Islam is a violent religion.
The holy books of Islam clearly state that its followers are to kill those that don’t believe the same as them.
"Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah." Qur'an:8:39

For all of you that criticize this question.
Who on earth do you think you are?! Just because you don't agree with him you think you should stop him?! You think his opinion is not valid so you should stop him from expressing it?! Is that not oppressive?!
And I have one thing to say to all you criticizing the Bible, the difference is: the Christians regard the OT as a book of history in which violence was common and necessary. But then came the NT, which was the new way for the Christian (and we all know it teaches peace).
Allow me to quote Kenneth Woodward.
“Like the Bible, the koran asserts its own divine authority. But whereas Jews and Christians regard the Biblical text as the words of divinely inspired human authors, Muslims regard the koran, which means “The Recitation,” as the eternal words of Allah himself. Thus, Mohammed is the conduit for God’s words, not their composer.”

What did that quotation have to do with anything? Simply this: The koran clearly states ITS ORDERS TO KILL HOLD TO THIS DAY! THE BIBLE'S DOES NOT!

You think so? It’s lovely that you THINK it is! But it wasn’t. By the way, what were the Bible verses for? Wouldn’t you consider that a rant?

Yes. It should be deleted. It's nothing more than an opinionated rant, it is not a question.
You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20
Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10
Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16
Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7
Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13
Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20
Any city that doesn’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah. Mark 6:11
Jude reminds us that God destroys those who don’t believe in him. Jude 5

When enough people are offended by a post and either report it or given thumbs down, the post is electronically deleted.
Apparently, enough people were offended and the post was removed.
It is the READERS on here who are responsible for the deletion....not Yahoo. Yahoo doesn't have a huge building somewhere with thousands of people reading every post.

I don't think it should have been deleated, because talking about questions like these is how we are led to understanding.
However, perhaps the question should have included Christianity and its propensity towards violence as well, just to give it balance.
It is a hard thing for religious people to recognize that their faith can lead to harm, but it is a reality.

It should not have been deleted. This is a valid discussion for R&S, especially with the current geo-political climate in the world.

No it should NOT have been deleted. "Hate" and "intolerance" is subjective. A label of Islam being a "violent religion" just shows that someone hasn't had a chance to meet those who use Islam to grow in virtuous deeds, altruism, wisdom and blah blah blah.

I think it is foolish, to kill someone just because they don't embrace your beliefs. It isn't exactly the best recruitment method. -shrug-
