How come there are still ghosts haunting places? There are specials I've seen on TV like "America's most Haunted" and some of those spirits are said to be bad people. If you go straight to Hell after you die, then how come they didn't?

That's all the more reason why I don't believe any human being ever goes to Hell. I believe there might be a Hell, but I don't believe anyone goes there, let alone for eternity.

i really don't know anything about the bible. i'd like to learn more about other religions. i'd like to know if there's a type of church or type of religion that really open to outsiders, and are willing to be understanding, and not overwhelming, or pressure me to convert

Those are the words of Daniel Gilbert, a Psychology professor and author of "Stumbling on Happiness". He asserts that happiness requires a moderate amount of delusion.

Do you agree?

New York Times Online's quote of the day:

"I have no idea why we got saved and others didn’t."
JOHN BECKER, whose house was undamaged in the California wildfires.

http://www.nytimes. com/2007/ 10/24/us/ 24scene.html? th&emc=th

No attempt to spiritualize it, no thanking any God (which I think is very tacky when neighbors have been hurt), etc. I don't know whether Becker is spiritual or not, but I was still impressed that he honestly admitted he didn't know why.

That said, I'm still praying to the Rain Gods to send some over to SoCal and the Wind Gods to please calm down!

Have you ever got in your inbox a story (that, by the way, is IMPOSSIBLE to verify if it contains some truth in it) about some NASA scientists were checking positions for the sun and the moon for the next 1000 years? And then the computer they were working with stopped and gave a warning signal. A day was missing according to the calculations!
Then one from the crew "providentialy remembers" a passage from the Book of Joshua (Joshua 10:13, http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=6&chapter=10&version=31 ). The conclusion: The Bible thus demonstrates to all non-believers they are wrong because science is "CONFIRMING" what the Bible says.

And with all this, they tells us that the Bible is almost a scientific book.

No disagreement or falling out--they simply walked away with no word or explanation? Did you understand why they did it or were you left dumbfounded?
This question is for all belief systems. Thanks!

Hi! My husband and I are two different religions, he's Presbertyrian, and I'm Roman Catholic. We are expecting our first child in March, and here's the thing.. I'm sure you can guess it.

I'm having a little trouble with trying to decide which religion the baby should be baptised under. When I moved from the north down to the south, due to my husband being in the military, I always figured, seeing that his family is all down here, and will be a staple in the babys life, I automatically said: the baby is going to be raised Presbyterian, which I still don't have a problem with.

That is up until recently, my husband said to go with what I want for the baby, but I was thinking about having the baby baptised both Catholic and Presbyterian.

Does anyone know if a child being raised, or from your own experience, does that confuse a child? I'd like them to know both, and let them decide either way when they grow. Should I baptise them in both do you think? (that's the main question)

if christians really think people go to heaven when they have completed a moral life, why are they so against euthanasia? or abortion? if a fetus is already a human life, then it goes to heaven (best place ever) and avoids a world full of sin and suffering.

isn't that the BEST CASE SCENARIO? wouldn't you all want to go straight to heaven without having to suffer? why cling to life so desperately, if you're about to go to nirvana?

if you really REALLY believed in heaven, you'd embrace death, wouldn't you?
