In a bet with his ENEMY, simply because you will get to see them again in heaven? Do you place so little value on life?

Linnie: I've read the bible a few times. It is quite clear you haven't touched it. That or your reading comprehension is low.

Bain: I was referring to answers on my previous question. People were making the claim that job was blessed and happy because he got to see his family in heaven. I disagree with that claim.

DazedandSlow: Perhaps my definition of a bet is wrong. Satan made a claim, god disagreed, satan said that if Job didn't have his possessions and his family that he would turn his back on god. God said prove it. If this is not a bet then Vegas is just a city with blinking lights.

Mccray, I did read it, perhaps you never read the story of Job. Obviously you haven't otherwise you wouldn't have wrote what you did.

Well Chef for disney, I see you care about convincing other people to believe what you believe. Some people need more convincing than others, I don't like buying into something that I can pick apart like this. You have no answer for my question, you just waste everyone's time by existing.

poseidon, that story is just that....a story, a parable, a metaphor

children die everyday to mothers who grieve and also have faith

I agree with Chippyli...before you criticize anything you need to read up on the subject first. # 1 He is not responsible for the death of any loved one...we are all going that way..If you know of anyone who hasn't left this earthly plane in that condition let me know..ok? #2 how dare you think that God thinks so little of you that he would "kill you on a dare" ... yeah you are right about the enemy and he has blinded you. Read the book that God left before you hand out simplistic claims with no knowledge behind it. My Lord...after living in this hell hole run by the enemy I am looking forward to heaven. All God is asking for is a little bit of your time, love and faith in Him. B = biblical I = instructions B = before L= leaving E = earth. Try reading it before you slam it!

What led me away from the biblical view of God (3 options):

A. Crap happens
B. God is in control of everything, so he makes it happen
C. Shut up, take your crap, and look for some "lesson" in it

A. Crap happens
B. God doesn't like crap to happen to you, but he can't stop it
C. God gets credit for all the good but none of the crap

OR

A. Crap happens
B. God doesn't interfere with people's lives one way or the other; the universe operates according to unbreakable rules
C. Use your brain to try to avoid as much crap as possible

The third was the only one that made sense to me.

I don't know of any scriptural basis for your statement. I know that if someone killed my family, I would be sorry that they were gone, yet glad of the fact that I would see them again in heaven. That doesn't translate to being glad they were dead, though; I'm not sure where you're getting that from. Who are you talking to anyway? Do you need a hug? {{ HUG! }}

Who made that claim? Just because someone believes they will see their family again in heaven does not mean they will not miss them on earth.

In a bet with his enemy? Huh? You really think that's what God is up to? Shooting craps with satan? Wow. Really, read the Bible before you start having opinions on a subject you're not familiar with.

God does not off people. God does not bet anyone nor does he wager peoples lives. Please don't argue the book of JOB as that was not a bet nor a wager but a proof. Funny how all the God haters are always trying to outwit or misconstrued to support their ridiculous ideologies.

Noone is happy to lose their family but you have to believe that God knows better than you and has his reasons. This is called faith and people with faith know they will see their loved ones again. Grieving is human and even Jesus grieved when Lazarus died.

I place a great value on God to know that He only does what is good for me and my family. I would mourn my family, but as Job said, "though God slay me I will trust Him." I would also know that one day I will see them again. I've lost my mother and I know that one day I will see her again.

claiming happiness isnt a way of saying that someone places little value on life, but a way to cope. somebody elses life should not come to a stand still becuase it was anothers time to go. before you ask assasine questions like this, you should put yourself in others shoes, and ask what would you do.
