How come there are still ghosts haunting places? There are specials I've seen on TV like "America's most Haunted" and some of those spirits are said to be bad people. If you go straight to Hell after you die, then how come they didn't?

That's all the more reason why I don't believe any human being ever goes to Hell. I believe there might be a Hell, but I don't believe anyone goes there, let alone for eternity.

Supposedly, they haven't chosen to cross over yet.

As a Gnostic Christian I personally don't beleive an all loving and caring God would allow such a thing as "Hell". I do beleive in ghosts, spirits, and angels though. From what I have read and learned about ghosts they are mostly people who die too suddenly or traggically and didn't cross over. Look up Silvia Browne, or better yet she's on the Montel Williams show every wednesday. She deaals with this sort of thing all the time and might be able to give you a better answer

Theres a break in time before one is judged and in that time period I believe we can stay on this earth as spirits. I would guess they stay around where they are most comfortable at and thats right where they lived. I've also heard hauntings are mostly encountered by violent deaths. During that time of tragedy a lot of energy both spiritual and physical is being exhorted and when the victim dies the energy still remains and shadows what happened during the incident.

I believe in Heaven and Hell, and while I don't claim to be an expert or even know much at all about ghosts, I have done some asking around. It is my belief that ghosts are not the people who have died, but rather spirits and other supernatural beings.
I was wondering how on earth there could be ghosts when people go to Heaven or Hell, and this is the only answer I have gotten that makes sense to me.

Both Good & Bad people go to hell. Jesus went there.( Acts 2:31)
The Bible states that when a person dies, “the spirit itself returns to the true God who gave it.” Similarly, at death no actual movement from the earth to the heavenly realm occurs when the spirit “returns” to God. Once the life-force is gone from a person, only God has the ability to restore it to him. So the spirit “returns to the true God” in the sense that any hope of future life for that person now rests entirely with God.
Forget those Tv " Specials:..

There are no such a thing as ghost and people are messed up when it comes to the teaching of hell in the bible. Research and you find it is not a place of torment. But research outer darkness and you will find punishment.

i believe in heaven but i dont not believe in hell...i went to a catholic school and i learned that hell is portrayed as this place of eternal torture and punishment but the real "hell" is knowing that u will have to spend an eternity after your death without seeing the kingdom of heaven or ever being with the heavenly father, this in itself is the punishment

Well assuming they do exist, the ghosts were supposedly left behind because of "un-finished business". Realize that these ghosts are not always evil and hell-bent. Instead it is believed that if someone was murdered and the correct killer was not found, they may not rest until the truth is discovered.

Purely Hypothetical of course.

I think these ghosts, if they really are a spiritual haunting, are demons masquerading as the spirits of dead people. When a person dies, his spirit goes to a spiritual holding place until the Day of Judgment.

If ghosts exist, I doubt they'd conveniently show themselves to so-called "ghost hunters".

There's some show on Sci-Fi where a bunch of people run around derelict houses and buildings with night vision cameras. They hear a noise or see something move and automatically act as if it's Ghostbusters and that they're being pursued by evil spirits.

That by itself is silly. Watching the show is even sillier.
