Religion does not save anyone, Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born-again. Born of the water(baptism in Jesus name) and the Spirit(receiving the indwelling of the Holy Spirit). Religion enslaves people. The new birth experience makes one free.

Obey Acts 2:38 and find a pastor who lives by the Obeying the New-Birth command!

Yes, I suppose converting to another religion does make the person a sinner in the previous religion.

But there again, when a person decides to convert to another religion, does that person even care what his/her old religion teaches?

If you're switching, what do you care... If you are truly reborn then you will never face hell, as long as the Heart is pure and it's not just a fad...

One, it doesn't matter what the previous religion thinks because you left for a reason - probably because you don't believe it to be true.

Two, "sin" as Christians understand it is a mostly Christian concept, so it depends what religion you are leaving.

If you were switching religions, it's because you don't believe in the previous one, so what the old religion thinks of you is kind of a moot point.

If your Previous Religion was teaching Falsehoods as facts then sure you Jump ship. I dont know of any who willingly wanted to stay on the Titanic when they knew it was going down, But I have seen many Cling to their " Titanics" when it comes to Religion.

I think it's worse, you become a Heretic or Apostate, special torture and and slow death was the common fate in the Christian past. In some Muslim countries stoning to death is the correct procedure.
