not at all. with 6 billion of us....we are ants....only we do more damage to the planet and are very much more irritating.
most valuable thing in the universe? can't think of a worse answer. we haven't seen .0000001% of the universe. how can you make that claim? why would you contemplate the entire universe based on your minimal knowledge of one star?

All life is precious, not only human. Ask the last Yangzte River Dolphin looking for a mate just how precious life is...
It is nauseatingly arrogant to say that humans are the most precious...

I myself am mostly sociopathic and solipsistic.
My own human life is very precious, but from there it goes down in a sliding scale according to how well I know you, how close you live to me, and how much I agree with you on political/economic/religious issues.
For example, my brother's life - who I know very well, lives nearby, and agrees with me on most (but not all issues) is worth a huge amount to me. In comparison, the life of someone like Osama Bin Laden - who lives far away from me, and does not match with my viewpoints on politics or religion means considerably less to me.
On an emotional scale, his life would be somewhere between the fuzzy blue stuff in the back of my fridge, and my concern for the fate of the TV show Pushing Daisies (I have been meaning to throw out the fuzzy blue stuff - so I would be somewhat pleased to see it go, but not so pleased that I have yet done anything about it; while Pushing Daisies I have seen once, and kind of enjoyed, so would be mildly disappointed if it got cancelled).
I would like to say that I value all human life, and that each life is worth the same as anyone else's, but in truth it isn't true, and there are in quite a lot of people whose lives are worth less to me than that of my cat.
I think that, in all honestly, most people feel the same way I do. They may claim that all human life is sacred, but in practise the lives of those they know, love or agree with are worth more to them than those far away or opposed to them.

Seems to follow an inverse bell curve. Very precious at the beginning of life, very preciouse at the very end of life. It is the in-between where people tend to lose the appreciation of how precious life is.

do not understand if I evaluate it "helpful". There are moments the place you may actually be ecstatic. There are additionally moments while that's"hell" for loss of a extra helpful term. perchance some people get excitement from the full procreation deal and then come to have faith "relatives" is the "be all end all". there is likewise the bit approximately how "one" can effect others lives in some helpful way. without giving this answer a selection of minutes, i'm not able to assert that "life" is to any extent further helpful than the "regulation of the jungle"; Human applications could furnish cases of delight and achievement. I, for one, by no skill understood the attitude of worshiping a deity for [supposedly] bestowing "life" upon us. [aside from the element the human mind's eye exerts to furnish clarification for "why"] life being "magic"? definite, before the healthful cynicism obtained over the years turns into certainty.

The only thing that God formed with His hand during creation was humans. He shaped Adam and Eve with his fingers and then breathed life into them. He didn't do that with anything else. We are exceedingly precious to God. It doesn't matter if we are good or evil, it doesn't matter what race we are, it doesn't matter whether we were conceived 10 seconds ago or we are 125 years old. It doesn't matter if we are an absolute genius or so mentally handicapped that we can't even think, it doesn't matter if we have the body of a Greek god or we are a collection of hideous birth defects. We are all precious in the sight of God. Our lives have innate value.

there's a Zen description about the uniqueness of each individual life that I've been trying to find the source of.
Anyway, it states that each soul's birth, in the entire realm of possibilities, is as likely as a turtle floating up from deep in the ocean and just happening to stick its head through a small ring floating on the surface of the ocean.
I try to keep that in mind when I want to dismiss someone as "worthless"
