what if a person is suffering a mental illness and can't really make proper decisions because they are blinded by their emotions and rage???
Is this what a loving God really wants ???

Actually man can not know the heart or mind of God. It is not up to man (or therefore any organized religon) to judge what will happen to a person who commits suicide. God ALWAYS reserves judgement for himself.

. . . I'll be honest, I have trouble considering homosexuality to be that massive of a sin. I mean, you found love, and it's in someone of the same gender. Good for you for findin' it. I do know that suicide is a pretty hefty sin, as you're essentially 'giving up', as opposed to taking the chance and risk associated with living. I don't know the specifics, as I really don't see that it matters. I figure, after death, we're more or less weighed on the good and bad that we did. Yet, I do believe that, if the reason behind why we did the bad thing is valid--or vice versa--then it lessens the weight of that sin. ...I'm not the person to ask about this, though. I'm an Anglo-Saxon Protestant Christian who believes small bits and pieces of many other religions and cultures out there. (I also believe that reincarnation may be valid, yet I've no clue. I don't exactly recall what happens once we shuffle off this mortal coil, y'know?) Oh, and I know what you're talking about. My aunt--the one I hate because, she's been mean to me ever since I was like.. 3 months old, give or take.. is also a lesbian. I don't like her personally, but I'm not about to say that's she gonna go to hell for her taste. I mean, with all the **** I've done, I'd say I'm more apt to go to hell than she is. Again, though, I'm really not the person you'd want to ask about this.

I think the general consensus goes like this:

1. "Thou shalt not MURDER" (this is different than kill, because you can hit someone accidentally with your car, and kill them, but you're a good person so why would you go to hell for that?)
2. You commit suicide, you murdered yourself so you committed a sin,
3. In order to be in the "right place" with God you must repent of your sins after you do them. NOT before. After.

If you are dead, then you can't repent.
So you go to hell. Or so they say.

If the person is crazy then they go automatically to Heaven because they have no idea between right and wrong. Also mentally retarded people also go automatically to Heaven because they have the mind of a child but are trapped in an adult body. At least that is what is in my religion Islam. As to the suicide. Suicide is killing yourself. Therefore you go to Hell for killing yourself. But your fate is up to ALLAH(SWT) where you go. That's just what I know. ALLAH(SWT) said whoever kills a person is like he killed the entire human race and whoever saves a life is like he saved all of mankind.

All sin is equal. I used to believe that suicide was an unforgiveable sin, but when looking at the Bible, that is not true. Suicide is self murder. If a murderer can be forgiven, so can someone that commited suicide. I would doubt the Christianity of someone if they committed suicide, but that's not to say that they won't go to Heaven. Suicide is not an unforgiveable sin.

If you sin, and you don't ask forgiveness, then there may be an issue.

If you ask forgiveness for all your sins, past, present, and future, and if God honours a past request for forgiveness in light of a present sin (1 John 1 : 9, God forgives all sin), then there are no worries.

If God grants 'eternal life', (John 3:16) then how could any believer undo an eternal gift? I don't think it's possible.

If we had to explicitly ask forgiveness for every single specific misdemeanor, we'd surely forget at least one, and no one would get to Heaven.

"Religious martyrs have taken their own lives, not because life was intolerable for them, but to use their supreme sacrifice as a tool to further the religious belief. We must assume, then, that suicide, if done for the sake of the church, is condoned and even encouraged-even though their scriptures label it a sin-because religious martyrs of the past have always been deified.
It is rather curious that the only time suicide is considered sinful by other religions is when it comes as an indulgence."

How do you presume to speak for 'most' religions?
Suicide is an abject failure to trust in GOD & rejection of life.
It is a last plea for help, by a hopeless person.
I think that pretty much describes mental illness.
If we believe in a merciful GOD, we cannot condemn.

Think about it...if you're an organized religion and you're going to pick on somebody, you want to pick on those least likely to defend themselves. People who commit suicide are remarkable in this capacity in that they are no longer alive.

the running theme in religions is. You do not own yourself, you did not choose to be born, and you can not choose to die. but you must follow the word of the lord or suffer forever in agony and pain, because god loves you.
