He wanted me to read Matthew, he was pointing to verse 12 or 1:2, I am not sure. Anyway, neither verse is particularly profound, and I am confused? Can anyone here break either verse down to me? What do you think he meant? Also, he showed me a figure of a human? I don't understand, but I believe I saw Jesus in my dream in spirit, so I am taking this seriously.

Thanks for any help.

Why are people so mean here? I thought I could get a helpful answer (no offence to those of you who have given one). I will seek a pastor then.

Matthew 12

1-14 - I think Jesus reminds you that he is here. He shows how the Pharisees did not believe, and tried to prove him (Jesus) to be of evil. Jesus being Lord of the Sabbath responds that his mercy and grace are given on any day. There is no day that forbids it. Just as his mercy and grace is extended to you regardless of what you have done, if you ask, mercy and grace awaits you.

Matthew 12
Lord of the Sabbath
1At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."
3He answered, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread—which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. 5Or haven't you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple desecrate the day and yet are innocent? 6I tell you that one[a] greater than the temple is here. 7If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,'[b] you would not have condemned the innocent. 8For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

9Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 10and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"

11He said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."

13Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. 14But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

15-21 - again Jesus reminds of healing. Also I think he gives a warning in this as prophecy begins to be fullfilled, I believe, that the day of victory of the Lord is near. I think he calls you back to himself so that you will be ready.

God's Chosen Servant
15Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick, 16warning them not to tell who he was. 17This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
18"Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
the one I love, in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
19He will not quarrel or cry out;
no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he leads justice to victory.
21In his name the nations will put their hope.

22-37 - again Jesus shows to you how he can heal even demonized ones, and grants grace and mercy. He warns that like the Pharisees, should you turn back to him, you will stand to be persecuted by those of this world. The Pharisees did this to him. He warns those that are not with him are against him. Jesus further tells of consequence for those that are against him. At the bottom of this section read 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. ...... Your words to be spoken is your calling out for forgiveness and repent. Again, I think that God calls you to come back to him.

Jesus and Beelzebub
22Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see. 23All the people were astonished and said, "Could this be the Son of David?"
24But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "It is only by Beelzebub,[d] the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons."

25Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

29"Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house.

30"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. 31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

33"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

38-50 - Warnings point to this generation. Those that are filled with the Holy Spirit and are saved do not have to worry about evil spirits dwelling within them, for where the Lord lives, evil can not. The miraculous sign has been given with the birth, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Don't let your house (body) be unoccupied for evil to enter. Fill yourself with the Holy Spirit by returning to Jesus, for Christ returns soon to take his with him and chaos and misery enter this generation. Again I stress to you that I think Jesus calls you back to himself.

The Sign of Jonah
38Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you."
39He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one[e] greater than Jonah is here. 42The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon's wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here.

43"When an evil[f] spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation."

Jesus' Mother and Brothers
46While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you."[g]
48He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" 49Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. 50For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

Look around at the world today. Compare it with Biblical Prophecy. Prophecy IS unfolding and Christ return is coming soon. By soon it could be 2 days, it could be 100 years. Nothing needs to be prophetically fullfilled before the Rapture of the Church happens. After the rapture (removing followers of Christ from earth to Heaven during the tribulation period of 7 years) then the Tribulation is to begin. Things in the world are being set up just as they are prophecised in the Bible for that tribulation to take place. Do some searching in your heart and talk to God. I think he wants you to come back to him and I think he wants you to be ready. God does not wish to lose any of hisi children. You stated anymore, which means you knew the Lord to some degree at one time.

I don't think I would know. Have you looked at all chapters for verse 12? Some of them might make sense to you. Here are some possibilities.

Matthew 3:12 His winnowing fork is in his hand. He will clean up his threshing floor and gather his grain into the barn, but he will burn the chaff with inextinguishable fire."

Matthew 8:12 But the citizens of that kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 9:12 When Jesus heard that, he said, "Healthy people don't need a physician, but sick people do.

Matthew 12:21 And in his name the gentiles will hope."

Matthew 13:12 For to anyone who has something, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who doesn't have anything, even what he has will be taken away from him.

Matthew 18:12 "What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them strays, he leaves the ninety-nine in the hills and goes to look for the one that has strayed, doesn't he?

Matthew 22:12-14 He said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' But the man was speechless. (13) Then the king told his servants, 'Tie his hands and feet, and throw him into the outer darkness! In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' (14) For many are invited, but few are chosen."

Matthew 24:12-13 and because lawlessness will increase, the love of many people will grow cold. (13) But the person who endures to the end will be saved.

Matthew 25:12 But he replied, 'Truly I tell you, I don't know you!'

Matthew 27:12 While Jesus was being accused by the high priests and elders, he made no reply.

Maybe he was just pointing to the bible in general...wanting you to read his word and come back to him...I've found that by prayer...not necessarily the type you hear in church...just mental conversations with him, thanking him for the little things that you appreciate in life and asking what ever you need the answer to. The answers may not come as fast as you'd like, but if you make it a habit to talk to him often, he will answer. I had a question I had been talking to him about. In Sunday School class we were asked to turn to a certain verse. I couldn't pay attention to the verse I was supposed to read. My eyes keep being drawn to the bottom of the page. It was the answer to the question I had been asking. He does answer...usually in a quiet manner...so it takes some focus...if you've ignored him for some time, don't expect it overnight. If your best friend ignored you for a while, it would take you a while before you decided to talk with her again, right? Consider yourself lucky to have been given such a sign. Most people never get them. Getting a bible you can understand, and just start reading...will help more than you know.

As the above posters mentioned, dreams come from your psyche, true enough - but that hardly means they aren't real! How could God communicate with you if there were no physical way to do so?

I do not understand the reference to Matthew 12 or 1:2. My suggestion is to pick your favorite phrase from Matthew 12. Mine is "Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." Repeat this as a mantra, over and over, in a quiet, dim place where you can concentrate. When your mind wanders, re-focus on the phrase. Just be open to whatever you experience and see if you don't get more clear on what is going on for you.

First of all, if you ever really were a Christian, you still are. It is "once saved, always saved". If you have fallen away from your faith, the Holy Spirit may be working through your dreams to try and convict you and lead you back.

Before I even tried to look up the verse to see what you might be talking about, I was going to tell you to stop trying to look for a sign from Jesus through dreams, figures, visions, whatever, and just open your heart to Him through faith. Ask Him to forgive you of any sin that is separating you from Him, repent of it, and renew your Christian commitment.

Then when I read through Matthew 12, I came upon a passage where Jesus was almost saying the same thing (see 12:38-29). This chapter also talks about someone who blasphemes the Spirit saying this is the only unpardonable sin. I have been taught that this sin is rejecting and denying the power of the Spirit when He is dealing with you. I think that's exactly where you are.

I am praying for you right now that you would be able to open your heart and mind to this truth and that the Holy Spirit would speak to you and reveal to you what you need to do to get right with the Lord. May God bless you as you truly seek to follow HIm.

I hope this isn't too annoying to post here, I was going to do it by email but you have that turned off. Also, keep in mind that the number twelve, by God's standards represents: 12 Governmental perfection. Here are the instances of a verse 12 in Matthew. I hope this helps!:

1 12 And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, [4] and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

2 12 And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

3 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

412 Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee.

5 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

6 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

7 12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

8 12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

9 12 But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

10 12 As you enter the house, greet it.

11 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, [4] and the violent take it by force

12 12 Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

13 12 For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

14 12 And his disciples came and took the body and buried it, and they went and told Jesus.

15 12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

16 12 Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

17 12 But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.”

18 12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?

19 12 For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it.”

20 12 saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’

21 12 And Jesus entered the temple [2] and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.

22 12 And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.

23 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

24 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.

25 12 But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

26 12 In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial.

27 12 But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer.

28 12 And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers

Since you are unsure of the verse or if it was a chapter and verse, have you read chapter 12 in the book of MAtthew? There is some pretty powerful stuff in there and a lot of it was spoken directly by Jesus.

Maybe Jesus was pointing to Matthew 18 verse 12:

Matthew 18:12

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

Why are you not a Christian anymore? What happened that caused you to turn your back on God? Seek God and ask Him to reveal to you what He meant. Isn't God the interpreter of all dreams? Try to begin read verse 12 in each chapter or just begin reading at chapter 1 until you have read the whole chapter and maybe God will recall what He showed you. Before you begin reading, with a sincere heart ask God to reveal His Word to you, and also repent from turning your back on Him and begin to seek Him like never before....

I would say your fear and guilt of questioning christianity caused this"dream" nothing spiritual about it ,talking to a pastor,I assume thats a priest of some description would only give you a very bigoted view, speak to psychologist or someone,he/she can explain how the mind works with regards to what you have experienced, cult victims often have the same problem you have, but usually on a more severe scale....hope you find peace...

I would suggest that you read it again.

Perhaps he was pointing to chapter 1, verse 1 and he wants you to start reading from there and continue on until you have finished the New Testament.

Cheers.
