I personally believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is when you pray to God to have the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and you are then able to speak in a language unknown to you after some practice and you will get many other spiritual gifts. This helps you in becoming closer to God and knowing God better. It is specific to Christians.

I am very proud to go to Marshall University, but their football team is pretty bad. If I remember correctly, they haven't won a game at all this year. Can everyone pray to their respective god(s), or FSM, or chant while lighting candles that our team wins their next game on the 27th? If you don't believe they are really in need of help, turn on the TV to ESPN (I think), which is televising their current game against Southern Miss. It's brutal.

I don't mean personal beliefs or feelings etc, I mean doctrine.

America is not a Christian theocracy. Gay civil rights should not be up for debate. Now start the arguments about men marrying their dogs or siblings and pedophiles being recognized as a protected minority *rolls eyes*

Answer these questions in the next ten minutes! There is a separate test for creationists and "evolutionists" (don't like that word). Creationists must honestly answer the question by how an "evolutionist" would answer the question? (ie. Does evolution happen? Yes.) and vice versa with "evolutionists".

No sarcastic answers.

Creationist test:

1) What does DNA stand for?
2) How old is the earth?
3) When did the dinosaurs live?
4) How old is the universe?
5) What is the nearest star after the sun?
6) Is natural selection random?
7) Is our nearest common ancestor shared with modern chimpanzees?
8) How many kinds of radiometric dating methods are there?
a) 0-5 b) 6-10 c) 10-15 d) more than 15
9) Why is the one kind of radiometric dating (Carbon 12 & 14) not used for dating the age of the earth?
10) Named three different species in the genus Homo?

I don't believe in God, and everything tells me it is unlikely God exists. However, I feel drawn towards belief in God. Why is this?

People always say Jehovah's Witnesse are a cult.

A CULT is a religion that is said to be unorthodox or that emphasizes devotion according to prescribed ritual. Many cults follow a living human leader.

In my opinon, I think Catholics are part of a cult. They seem to follow, believe and worship(even kiss his the pope's ring!) the pope even more than they worship God.

what would you say to me to make me change my mind? Can you convince me that this life is worth living? Or you'll just tell me go for it (if you thought of it you're not worth living right)? No nonsense about God...or else :) And have in mind that I'm not a simple person.

I was at a Pentecostal church tonight and one of the men spoke in tongues while we were praying/singing. No one had any idea what he was saying and there was no one to translate, so I don't understand the point. As far as I understand it, tongues is supposed to be revelation/prophesy from God in a Heavenly language and there is supposed to be an interpreter. So, it seems to me that no interpreter = no tongues, but this man did it nonetheless. It doesn't seem to make sense for God to give revelation if no one knows what is revealed. So what's the point?

Just warning you: all mean, rude, or derogatory answers will get thumbs down.

"The koran states that Jesus was a prophet.
Read the New Testament.
There is no proof in the koran that mohammad was a prophet.
I read the koran with an open mind to discover the truth.
Truth is ,the koran was written by mohamad to gain wealth, women, and political power.
I left islam because i realised it was a false religion ,but now i have been saved by the religion of love and
the love of our lord Jesus Christ.
You too can be saved by accepting the
lord in your heart.
God bless you."

Jesus speaking to a crowd of people along with his disciples:

Mat 16:28 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Jesus speaking to his disciples just prior to sending them out to preach the good news:

Mat 10:23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Jesus instructing his disciples privately on the Mount of Olives on when the end will come and when he himself will return:

Mat 24:34 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

Jesus said he would return to Earth soon and in fact, he stated that it would be within the lifetime of his contemporaries. He promised to return before all the people of his generation had died.

It doesn't really make sense to me.
I doubt lots of people were really "consumed with demons" left and right, like the bible speaks of, having jesus go from person to person releasing these demons.
And on that note, i think it totally undermines the explicit message given in the bible when someone tries to say that, for all we know, these "demons" might have been illness and infirmity and such. If it is the word of god, why does god make it sound unnecessarily mystical, with "demons" meaning something that had nothing to do with actual significant demonic activity?
